Yes the lock pick allows the screen to be circumvented so that you can watch a movie on the screen while the vehicle is in motion. Nav and everything else is unaffected and will function normally when needed. There are various cameras that can be attached to give different views around the vehicle if that's wanted also.
I think it would be better to plug in a game console that can play DVDs. That way when you're on a long drive and need something to help you stay awake on the road you can switch to some fast action game for a few miles between movies.
That's not a bad idea but just for around the town kinda thing a slimline external DVD player should do though a lot of the new ones are via USB plugins
I think the real benefit of this unit is the ability to navigate freely through the radio even while in motion. No locking out of menus and such while in motion. Bring able to turn on the rear view camera at anytime is awesome too.
It's not just for watching videos while in motion.
Very true stech but who cares what you're looking at behind you with the rest camera?? That's what the rear view mirror is for. When you're on the road and the kids aren't looking out the windows at trees for 500 miles like the ole school way and they have a chance to watch an 8.4 inch screen with the sound from the movie coming trough all the speakers at the same time..which option do you think try will pick??? Trees??? NOTTTTT. Technology obviously has its benefits and as long as its used wisely..it's all good.
I agree with you whole heartedly @CHALLENGERBIZJET . some people like the rear view camera feature for towing...
I was really giving @jacko15 a different perspective on the capabilities of this module. I look forward to connecting a digital TV tuner so I can watch the news or games between grocery shopping with the wife
