I've been experiencing occasional rough idling from my 3.6 '14 JGC. My dealer hasn't been able to replicate it. Today, I noticed the fuel filler door is lose. There's a significant gap between the filler door and the gasket is meant to cloes against. Maybe this has somthing to do with my engine issue? I checked the filler door an a colleague's car. His sits flush.

Called my dealer and they said to bring it in, they'd be happy to adjust it. Have any of you adjusted this door yourself? Is it easy? Maybe I can save myself a trip to the dealer.

Unless you can see very obviously how to adjust it, I'd give the dealer at least one shot.

The compartment door wouldn't be causing your funny idle, that capless fuel inlet might be leaking a but, but then you'd expect it to throw a MIL.

By any chance are the stations in your area cutting over to winter gas from summer, and you only noticed this recently?

Are you running flex fuel or regular or midgrade?
Does changing brands to Shell, Chevron, etc. for a tankful or two cure it?

[rough idle sucks to isolate unless it is storing codes the techs can pull or something obvious like a loose vacuum hose]

The idle issue has been going on since I bought it in July. And I've filled up a several different gas stations.

Once I did get a check engine light- this was the most severe instance and with it I had significant power loss under throttle and noise from the engine compartment at the same time. I assume either a code wasn't stored or it didn't help the dealer find the problem.

As far as bringing it to the dealer, I'd like to avoid another trip because each time my car comes back with another nick here and a scratch there. I understand the service techs are rushed and scratches are the result. But, so far, I can't see any obvious adjustments.

Wasn't there a problem with some V6 heads that caused weirdness like this????

Update to the fuel door. Mine has a gap too.

Hi folks, just joined. My filler door was flush when I first got the car in September but now sitting noticeably high vs the surrounding bodywork, especially the top half which is nowhere near touching the gasket. Dealer said they couldn't adjust it and that's how they all were (there was a new Summit in pre-delivery inspection which was also not flush). I'll mention it again to them when I take it in for the N58 recall tomorrow.
