The idle is really rough and low, it runs but with about half the power it seems like, it also stalls sometimes when coming to a stop, error codes p0141, p0161, p1499, 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee there is a loud clanging when the engine is on, speeds up as the RPMS go up

Checked those codes, they are oxygen sensor and hydraulic fan codes. From your description of the other problems it seems that you have bigger problems. Without seeing actually seeing your car it is hard to give any advice, I would get it to a mechanic as soon as possible. A loud clanging from the engine that increases with RPM is not good I'm afraid.

This is the WK2 platform section, 2011-current Jeep Grand Cherokee, you need to go to the ZJ platform section, you might get more help there.

It would help to know what engine you have....

Bad O2 sensors or an exhaust leak before the downstream O2 sensor or shortly after it, could cause the engine to run extremely rich, and the engine would run the way you describe.... ...clanging wouldn't normally be part of running rich, but it might be exhaust or an exhaust leak, which would be tied to the O2 sensor and running rich...

The 6 cylinders often had a metal tube exhaust that could develop very big cracks, and make metallic clinking/clanging with the leak....
