So I love my jeep except the head room... I'd like to know if anyone has any experience with a way to lower the seats so I don't have to sit like I've got a deformed neck or I'm afraid of getting shot.

I've got an 07 gc with the leather electric controlled and heated seats, if that makes a difference.

Even my passengers comment on how cramped I look in it, with the seat all the way down, lower seat adjusted down a ton, and slung back like a gangster.... trust me, I've tried every configuration of the obvious seat adjustments.

Dang, how tall are you? Im 6'2" and dont think its at all cramped. In fact, I still have room to lower my seat...
Im only 6'2 as well. Thats why im astounded i dont fit... im tall, but not that tall. but at the same time, the space-conscious design of that vehicle lacks all around, with the dumb false floor, poor backseat leg room, and the OBNOXIOUS placement of the ignition (ive shut off the car twice while on the highway with my knee hitting my key).

I'll agree with you there. My wk is much larger than my wj, but somehow has way less leg room and cargo space on the inside. And dont even get me started on that ridiculous ignition placement, lol. Other than those complaints, I wouldnt trade it for anything.

Unless you are shaped like Michael Phelps (2' legs and 5' torso) I just cannot see how you fit so poorly. I am 6'5" and loved how comefortable the WK was to fit in. The WJ and ZJ I agree, the headroom is lacking, and not having the vertical adjustment of power seats would make driving impossible but the WK I fit just fine!

Does your seat go up and down, its not catching on anything, there is nothing under the seat?

I've got a ZJ, am 6'3", and have plenty of room for the old noggin. Granted, you've got a couple inches on me!

I worked for a jeep dealer for 4 years and drove many of em' it wasn't a HORRIBLE fit unless they were manual seats that didn't have a vertical adjustment. One that I borrowed while I was in Alaska 7 years ago and put a couple hundred miles on, was uncomfortable to me as I didn't have enough head room to the left of the drivers seat, so long as I had my weight over the center console all was good and I it drove really nice, had me dying to get one when we came back to Portland, but on a long trip I couldn't lean towards the door at all, I couldn't even really center my mass in the seat and its all good, until you try the first time, then your mind is screaming at you how much it sucks.

Well, ive done a ton of searching and ive found two things...

First, it seems to have everything to do with how you like to sit, i.e. upright, leaned back, leaning to the side, ect. Im a very upright sitter preferably, but that makes my head touch... i guess i just gotta learn to sit back.

Second, theres no mods available, mostly due to the irregar floor mounting and how the floor is shaped.

im sure if you really really wanted to a metal shop could make a new seat bracket for you... but dont know that it would be worth the money.

good luck!

I am around 6'4" -6'5" and I have no problem. Do you have really short legs? The further you move the seat back the more headroom you get b/c of the way the roof is shaped. A guy on the red site is 6'8" and comfortable too.

Really? I thought I always fitted better in my zj but I havent ever tried to lean towards the door. Although I have hit my head getting out of the jeep a few times.
