I couldn't find any info here except for USA models. Just wondering if anyone here has been able to update their navigator's maps.

I have a 2015 (October build). Its map dates back to 2013 or 2014, depending on which serial number is the applicable one.

My local Jeep dealer seems to know nothing about this.

Thanks.

I sent Jeep Australia an email about 6 weeks ago seeking an idea as to when we may expect an update. Still waiting on a reply so I don't think they are overly proactive in either map updates or providing customer feedback.

Yep, it's a malaise that affects all manufacturers. If you pay a premium for sat nav, then they should be made accountable for it. If they don't want to provide updates, then provide it for free. Then we can't complain.

Anyway, my next car will have Apple Play. I won't need to rely on the manufacturer for this sort of stuff.

With Apple Car Play or Android Auto the problem may simply shift to incompatibility due to aging firmware/hardware versions. I've not read of any assurance from either camp that backwards compatibility will be maintained for what we consider a vehicle lifetime.

Cheers, Steve

I wonder if you take the importer or the stealer to NCAT/tribunal in this case.

I'm pretty busy these days but would consider a case. No love for either of the above parties.

Guys

FCA have form in this regard. Back in about 2012 / 2013 a member took them them to some fair claims tribunal / mediation because the Mapping software wouldn't work properly. Back then, it was actually the algorithm that interpreted the maps that was faulty.

If you had a 400km route, it would often route you around (figuratively and literally) on a 500km journey. Would also lead you up dead end roads etc.

The guys won and the judge was scathing of FCA and within a couple of months, a formal software and mapping update were released.

With FCA, legal proceedings are the only language that they understand.

I'm sure that is not the corporate image they want however, that seems to be the way they portray themselves when dealing with their "Jeep family" customers.

Hey swampy, where would Ilook to find the update mentioned? My map takes me on a cooks tour all the time and maybe this would be a useful improvement.
Cheers

Unfortunately it was only available through the dealer. Seeing as yours is a 2014, not sure if the 2011-13 fix would would work on yours as the system was updated at 2014.

G'day All
I gave up on the up dates. sick of going the long way around.
So, a couple of months ago i had the Jeep unit taken out and fitted a Alpine, INE-W977A. Free up dates for three years. Its a great unit.
Bob
Just looked at it. How do you control the climate, seat/steering wheel heating and so on that Uconnect normally does?

And how does the nav interact with the EVIC directions?

Hello Fellow Australian GC owners,

Like you, I have been on the case of FCA for some time now, actually have a registered case which has been open for almost a year. I went to FCA after many, many requests to my dealer for an update for years and like everyone else was given the run around.

The short of it is that the dealers do not have a clue what is going on, so let me give you a bit of an update.

The issue according to the Technical people I have been speaking to at FCA has been the software of the navigation server in Uconnect which was not able to take the updates of the later navigation database. The code for this has had to be rewritten to make it work and this has taken along time for the IT guy's to get right and tested across all the different system types in the country.

The second issue was the licencing of the new database was not setup for Australia and consequently had to be negotiated with the supplier and the USA.

As of last week when I got my last update. I was told that FCA have now finished everything and are rolling it out to the dealers. FCA has a list of GC owners who have complained and have cases open who will get a letter this week advising them that they are to take their vehicle to the nearest dealer to have the updates done, I am also told - free of charge.

What will happen with future updates I don't know but I will be happy to have something more recent than the 2012 database I currently have in my MY2014 JGC Overland.

Will drop another note when and if I get my letter but I suggest you all call FCA and get on the list. Regards, JosephR.

Just picked up my MY18 Trailhawk (Oct 2017 build), maps are dated 2016 Q4. Highway turnoff for my house is wrong wrong wrong.

Since Jeep SatNav doesnt do traffic in Australia anyway, I'm now using Waze on my iPhone for all navigation. Interested to see what IOS12 will do for navigation apps and CarPlay.

IOS12 beta 5 doesnt support it yet... https://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=83921&start=270

Did they give you a price on the update?
