Hey guys, I just wanted to show off my completed project. This was my attempt to combine all my favorite visual items from both an Overland and an SRT-8. It's been a long road getting everything the way I wanted but in the end i'm pretty happy with the results. Being there are so many of us Jeep owners on the road I finally feel like I made the car my own and could stand apart from the rest of the lineup. First off i'd like to thank Chad from Black Ops for working with me on the body kit. I wont comment too much on the preparation or the installation process of the bumpers because mine will most likely be alot different then yours if you order a kit. Chad and I were in communication throughout the whole process and he has been adjusting and perfecting the kit for a more streamline install. Its hard to tell from the pictures but the exhaust tips are beasts and look great in person, the chrome stands out a lot more than the black OEM tips.

Other mods on the car include

Taillight Solutions rear fog kit
Sharkfin antenna
LED License plate bulb replacement
Replica SRT 20in rims
De-badged rear and finished off with SRT Design badge

I know there is a lot going on here, and its sort of mixing "looks" but overall I think it all works for my tastes. I'm not trying to be a poser by turning the car in to an SRT-8 and to be honest I think only die hard jeep fans would even notice a difference, but I love the SRT design and being the price went up so much since I owned my WK SRT-8 I thought I'd work with what I have.
Any way I'd love to hear your thoughts. :)

Here is a night shot before I changed from stock rims

and one from the back to show the tail light solutions kit

and the badging

Looks great the first 2012 SRT8 Clone. I cloned my 2005 WK one the first few to do so. The only thing I do not like are the running boards lose them and it will look right, But you do what you want. Still Looks Cool.

Yeah the guys at the body shop said the same thing about the running boards, still can't decide. I liked them just because I thought it made the car look a little lower.

Wow thats a lot of work you put into that thing. Overall I think I like it! Like others have said, the running boards would need to come off to complete the sportier look, but thats easy enough if you decide to do it. Im not sure about the exhaust tips I think they really need to be painted gloss black like how the SRT comes as it kind of looks unfinished as is. As for the badge, I know its not a true SRT8 badge, but I would have done without that as well because when the badges start getting slapped on is when people start thinking your a poser when we know thats not what you are at all.
Either way it looks great its nice to see someone finally tried out the black ops kit and the SRT repro wheels.
Congrats!

I agree entirely, but the problem is since he went with the black ops stuff and not OEM, the OEM SRT8 side skirts will not match up with the black moulding that the non-SRT8 Jeeps have. Im sure it will still work, but not sure if it would look weird to have that black moulding stop at the bottom of the fender, then all of a sudden goes to painted and smooth on the lower side skirt.

Looks Great!

Are we talking side skirts or wheel well flairs?

The side skirts are virtually the same on this as the SRT the difference is minimal at best. This is why we did not do them we put all the effort into the OEM quality. A minimal change side skirt would add to the overall cost and we wanted to be at 50% or less than the oem kit. The OEM conversion is 6-8k without paint and install so we accomplished what we set out to do. Besides gives a different look more of what the badge says SRT Design lol

I think the problem with adding the OEM side skirts would be it not matching up with the wheel wells. Since the SRT-8 has well flares that stick out wider. The ends of the skirts would bubble out too far past my stock wells. Technically the kit is a modified SRT design, thats why I thought I could get away with the badge.

Interesting no one cares for the running boards. About the grille, I didn't know if I should do the SRT grille because I had so much other chrome on the car and wanted everything to tie together. If I changed out the grille then I feel I would want to get rid of the chrome side moldings as well. But then I feel it would be like i'm trying too hard to make it look like an exact SRT when I still wanted to keep a partial overland feel as well.
