I started off with random misfires on all cylinders so I replaced all the spark plugs and that didn't help then I did the coil pack and that got rid of everything and now the P0306 comes up. I don't have a scan tool so I took the Sprint tracker I have for my sons car and plugged it in and the code would show up and sometimes after driving I would get a notification while driving that it was fixed, so I scratched my head and figured it wasn't to pressing to fix but now it runs really rough and occasionally I get the smell of fuel. I'm thinking my next step is to replace the injector, mostly because of the fuel smell, am I on the right track or completely off? Forgot to mention it has the 4.0 with 200k miles on her

You can swap the injector with another position and see if the fault follows, which would confirm a faulty injector. If the new coil pack solved all the problems first and later the P0306 appeared, i would have another look at the coil pack.
