I do apologize because I know I've seen this asked in a thread a few weeks back but here's what happen today. Yesterday was giving the jeep a bath, key fob falls out of my jacket when bending around in the interior. I toss the fab into the cup holder and continue my task. Of course I forget it's there and later that evening the wife stands at the door and locks all the rigs in the yard with the other remotes. This morning she heads off to work (with her fob) and I am left with a jeep that has my fob locked inside.

Question is - the auto-touch door unlock recognizes the fact the fob is not outside the truck ?? Surely the console cup holders is close enough for the fob to work ??

Can't fix stupid, I am aware of this, but I was surprised the touch feature would not open the door given the distance was only a couple of feet to the cup holder.

Can you unlock it with UConnect app on your phone? I think it's crazy our car can lock the fob in it. My Nissan knows when you hit the lock button outside the door but leave the fob inside the car. And that one is 4.5 years old.

Didn't setup the UConnect app yet and not sure it will even work in Canada. Was a little surprised myself when I could walk up and see the fob in the cup holder but couldn't get to it. Had to wait for the misses to arrive home later that day.

AFAIK, the only way to lock the FOBIK inside a vehicle with passive entry is to manually lock the door using the inside mechanical button or the key in the outside lock cylinder.

the locating antennas are directional so the system knows if the FOBIK is inside or out side the vehicle.

when a FOBIK is inside the vehicle and you lock the doors using the power lock button, as soon as you close the door, the horn will sound and the doors will unlock. after the third attempt, it will allow the doors to remain locked, deducing that you are hellbent on locking the FOBIK in the vehicle.

not sure of vehicle behaviour if using second FOBIK to lock the vehicle. perhaps others can try it and chime in.

Just repeated the steps and sure enough I can lock one fob in the Jeep by locking the doors with the other fob. Tossed one fob in the cup holder, and walked back to the house and locked the Jeep with the other. The Jeep is locked (with the fob inside) until you approach with the second fob or unlock remotely.

No biggie, just getting used to "no key".
