I'm having an issue with my 2000 GC 4.7. I have also noticed the same issue on everyone that I see on the street, same side too. When the lights are off my brake lights work (passenger side is a dimmer than driver side but it works) now if i turn on any lights it still lights up but as soon as i hit the brakes the passenger side goes out until I let off of the brake. I have been told to bend the contacts. Not certain what I should be bending but if someone can help me out I'd greatly appreciate it. Otherwise it's off to purchase a replacement. Thanks y'all

I had this issue when I first bought mine. Around the outside there are the metal rounded projections. Those are the contacts for the tail light assembly. Usually a small screwdriver will do the trick. They are pretty fragile though so be careful

When you remove the light socket and turn the lamp side towards you, you can see the small contact tabs which should make the electrical circuit complete. Bend those small tabs out a bit and.check if the contact surface is clean. This normally does.the trick.
It seems I was bending the wrong tabs. I bent the ones on the light assembly as per your instructions and now I have a great connection. Thanks for all your help...now I can drive at night without worrying about a ticket. Thanks again.
