Hi everyone. I'm a 6-month lurker dropping in to say thanks and introduce myself. First let me say THANK YOU to all that have posted about your experience with the new Jeep and especially to Milous for the early accurate intel. The information I received here was vital to my decision-making and in truth much more useful than I was getting even from the company (amazing). A little bit of background on me: female, thirties, put a lot of miles on my vehicles with work and fun, lead an active outdoors life... As a southern transplant, I've dreamed of owning a jeep for many years, really wanted a Wrangler but that wasn't possible with my work requirements so a JGC it is. And I'm not disappointed at all :D

I'm coming from an Infiniti G AWD, which I LOVED to drive! Car was destroyed by a 21 year old distracted punk, as was my body :slapfight: After many months of physical therapy and a year of renting/borrowing vehicles I've finally gotten a replacement. Yay! I was focused on not losing the "luxury" features from my G like heated leather and rearview camera, adding capabilities to match my active lifestyle like bicycle towing, and getting a vehicle that made me feel safer (the car that hit me was an old jeep and wasn't really damaged while my car literally no longer had a rear). The JGC was one of the few vehicles that could meet these needs and with my ridiculous discount it was an easy choice to make.

2013 vs 2014 was much more difficult. I decided on a 2013 but placed my order 1 week late (the factory had just switched over). Then I went to the lot and negotiated a slammin deal on a 2013 (and with my discount on top of that price) but just before I left they told me the first 2014 Limited was on the road and would be delivered in 4 days. It could be mine for < $1,500 more with many more upgrades (I was going to get the 2013 Laredo with the 2 packages that basically made it a Limited minus a few unnecessary features - of course that option has been discontinued for 2014 which I was initially annoyed to hear). I decided to take a day to think it over and ultimately said I don't want a black jeep (I work in a small office and at least 6 people have them here with our discounts), I'm willing to pay for the added features I want, and I'm willing to wait for the build so I dont' get a black one. I wanted Diesel and I wanted the new safety features but I wasn't willing to pay for the extra $4k luxury upgrade to get access to either of those options. That has been the only bummer about the Jeep so far.

Ordered from the factory on March 4th, shipped on April 8th, delivered on April 12th, and in my hands on May 6th. Long convoluted story on why I couldn't pick it up sooner but finally it's in my hands. As I think about it I can't believe it's been a year without a vehicle of my own... Well, good things come to those who wait

And so here we are: a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, Blue with black interior and that black wood grain detail (wasn't sure what it would be), 4x4, Off-Road 2, Sunroof, 8.4 screen, Engine block heater and all that the Limited offers: keyless entry, remote start, power rear door, etc... Because I ordered the vehicle before there was much information on the specifics of each model I wasn't really sure of what I was going to get on my vehicle or even how it would look. I never saw the blue color or the 2014 Limited in person. I was most nervous about the rims. I saw some rims on the Limited that I really disliked. I don't know if these were early releases or based on what they ordered but I really like the ones I got. Whew...

I enjoyed the interaction with my salesman but received almost no training on the vehicle. I even showed him some of the features but that's the nature of the discount buy. I'm not complaining.

So far the coolest feature has to be the lowering height. The salesman was about my height so when I put it down and we got out right to the ground he said "woah its like a sedan now". Can't wait to learn all that the vehicle offers and put it to good use. I'll be taking/adding pictures tonight if the rain holds off.

Cool.. glad you like it, mine just showed up about a hour ago.. i havn't been able to drive it yet as im in work looking out the door at it. I did move it about 30 feet.. and man i feel like a soccer mom in it, i have driven only trucks for like 20 years and all manual trans. So this is totally odd to me:) I do hate the shifter so far though.. i am always missing reverse

EDIT: Always= the 3 times i tried it...

Thanks all. I'm still superexcited.

Icetech, I'm having issues getting used to shifter too. I plan to focus on it this weekend so I can really get the feel of it. I seem to keep shifting into Neutral instead of Drive and into Reverse instead of Park.

Has anyone been able to get the Park ride height to automatically adjust when you stop/park the vehicle? I'd rather not have to remember to press the button everytime. It seems like a silly issue for Jeep to not have remedied by now. I'm starting my log of things I like/don't like about the vehicle and these are my 2 dislikes so far (along with not having the safety features option).

I'm also starting a list of mods for the Jeep. First up will be floor/cargo liners followed by a radar detector and bike rack.

The rain didn't hold off so I just grabbed a couple of shots of the interior, particularly the areas where I didn't know what it would look like when I ordered the car. There's more info available online about these options now.

My main dislike is the 8 speed.. i would much prefer a manual. but just something i will have to get used to.. and default eco mode is silly, we should be allowed to choose our default mode (unless we can't and i just don't know it)

And yeah.. cargo liner is getting ordered today. i keep my bike in the back and have blankets down right now

It really is cool, especially in those complicated intersections on the highway where it looks exactly like what you're seeing on the road. Makes it super simple.

JeffH20 In the settings I changed it to the 3D map. The default was true north which doesn't work well to me.

Thanks for the info, it must be something then with your geograpical location cause when I put mine in 3D Map it just changes slightly but nothing to the extent of what yours does, that is awesome!

It's probably because I'm in a small town, I wonder if I drove to the Chicago area if the 3D Nav would start showing up better like yours. That's pretty sweet!

I think this is one of the unique features on the 8.4AN that can't be added with the Nav activation on the 8.4A. It's extremely helpful on highways you're unfamiliar with that have multiple splits coming up. My wife always freaks out when she has to drive the freeways in LA and doesn't know which route on the upcoming split to take and says this makes the drive less stressful and she doesn't second guess her decision now.

I have the 8.4AN (Standard on Overland) and mine still doesn't do this. But again, I think it's something to do with me living in a small town and it isn't programmed in 3D for my area. I bet bigger cities it would start to show up more 3D-ish like shown above.

That steering wheel shot reminded me of the ones they posted for the 2011-13 that looked like a rabbit.
You are so right! Now I'm not going to be able to get the idea that I'm driving a rabbit out of my head. Thanks a lot :D Although maybe mine looks like a cute cuddly bear.

So I had my first major "moment" with the vehicle yesterday. I was exiting the highway, tried to accelerate, and was getting almost no response. I was able to pull over, restart the vehicle, and the problem went away. As I quickly figured out, I must have touched the paddle shifters on the steering wheel and the jeep went into manual shift mode. Because I didn't have training from the Salesman I didn't know this was possible. It seems the jeep should only do this when I move the shifter into D/S mode. Tonight I'm going to see if I can disable this feature. It was a little scary and thankfully I was in a place where I could pull over and not be stalled in a dangerous traffic situation while I figured it out.

On a wonderfully delightful note I put the usb port to use this AM and thought the interface worked so well. I was rocking out hard on my daily commute! "You're welcome" to whomever I was entertaining with my dance moves. I need to figure out if I have a harddrive with this radio to store the music. I thought I remembered reading about a 40gb drive. Really it doesn't matter anyway as I used my bestbuy reward to buy a 750 gb harddrive last night which will be dedicated to Jeep tunes.

I also noticed that on the nav map it listed the posted speed limit. I didn't have this on my last vehicle and the only thing that would make it better is if it were displayed near the speedometer. So cool.

One question I have: does anyone know how to put the passenger seat down in the forward position? I tried and tried but couldn't get it to work  Maybe it's not an option since I have a power passenger seat? Not good.

Honestly, I'm still so impressed with this Jeep! Here's hoping the love affair lasts and lasts...

 This is not an available feature. I too, wish it was available. Another feature I wish to have is elevation reading on the nav. Elevation is a available on most portable nav units.

About the Nav-FWIW-it is Garmin based and this is a feature on the portable units called "Junction View" IIRC. It basically shows up in highway exits giving you an"realistic" view to show you where the exit will be located. Pretty cool feature. I think it should not matter whether it was the RA3 or RA4 Unit since it does not concern 3D IMO.

ETA: Would love to see exterior photos of the True Blue which is still my first choice (2nd MaxSteel; 3rd BilletSilver)

No hard drive in the 2014's, that was in the previous generation. The fold flat passenger seat is only available with the manual seat also. On a side note are you going to use the 110v plug from the back seat to power the hard drive? Either way I think your jeep will rust apart before you listen to every song on it!

Nope, just going to plug right into the radio usb. No power needed. You're right, I'll never use the full capacity for songs but there's all kinds of good files to keep in the car, I guess *shrug* plus it's nice to have options :)

JeffH2O, my nav is actually set to 2D - I forgot I liked it better. Make sure that "Junction View" is selected. I deselected it and the split lanes didn't show up. See the photo which was taked at the same junction as the previous photo. It doesn't do this split at every interestion though, I guess just the major ones.

Your wish is my command. I took for a stroll at lunch and captured a few shots on my phone. It's a little difficult to see the blue in the photo but it's nothing like the green, which I really wanted but looks black unless you're standing right at it and paying close attention. I've gotten tons of complements. It's clearly blue. I've also attached a few pics of my favorite features thus far: nav turn notification in the dash, speed limit on the map, and tissue holder in the arm rest = my first modification! I'll take some pics with my real camera this weekend.
