I read in Motor Trend that the NHTSA is investigating on a WK2 after three GCs caught fire in the headliner.

Jeep may have another fire-related issue on its hand. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently launched an investigation focusing on the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee after it received three reports from owners who claim that their vehicles inexplicably caught fire.
According to the report, owners first smelled a burning odor before smoke and flames emerged from the headliner near the passenger side sun visor. In one case, the front passenger seat caught fire when the burning sun visor fell on it, and another owner reported that the fire caused the sunroof to shatter. All three Grand Cherokees were inoperable and had to be towed to the dealership. The automaker said it is working with the NHTSA investigation, which has the potential to lead to another problematic recall.
The investigation comes months after the automaker issued a recall of 2.7 million vehicles involving fuel system issues in 1993-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokees and 2002-2007 Jeep Libertys. The agency claimed those vehicles were at a high risk of fires in the event of a rear impact, which Jeep initially disputed. In the end, however, Jeep issued the voluntary recall and will inspect and possibly reinforce the rear structure of the affected vehicles.
