OK,so I have a whining noise coming from somewhere on my engine,Im thinking its the power steering pump, but it doesnt feel hard to turn though. There also isnt any additional noise when turning the wheel. It is especially loud when I start it up when its cold outside. I was also thinking maybe it could be the water pump, but thre is no leaking coolant that I can see. So if anyone has an idea let me know! Thanks

PS Pump failure is pretty common on the 5.7 (although the waterpump is also not unheard of)

I would guess the steering, since it is worse when cold (before the fluid warms up and flows freely) - the coolant shouldn't be affected by temperature as much.

If you turn the wheel while it is making noise, it should change (slightly, or a lot) as you turn the wheel if it is the ps pump.
