Hi all,

I'm sure this has been posted before, and I have even asked something along these line but have never gotten much discussion on the question.
In the earlier models I read quit a bit on QL issues. How have the later years been with this system?
How about the projected longevity of the system. I live remote in the Rocky Mountains with no dealerships near, and am apprehensive about the QL system. What are people's thoughts on reliability and harder usage.

It was supposedly upgraded for MY2014. So far, one member here is reporting a problem. He was going to the dealer today so we should find out if it was serious. Other than that it is too soon to tell if the new changes to the system will be good or bad.

11,000 miles + and I haven't had a single issue with mine. But it's hard to get an accurate representation on a forum where many go to post about the problems they are having. I would hazard a guess that the vast majority of QL owners won't have a problem with the system. Also the same/similar system is used on the new Ram trucks. I don't think they would have started that if they were having serious issues on the JGC. Just my .02

I'm only at about 5000 miles but haven't had any issues yet and do use it quite a bit between auto/sport/park heights.

A lot of issues in other areas but haven't heard of anything with quadra-lift. In fact the load levelling shocks are causing more concern with knocking noises supposedly as a result of poor damping of the shock mounts. I beliebe there are a number of TSBs out on that. Some work some don't.

The only issue I've found with quadra-lift is when travelling in OR2, the highest level, there is plenty of suspension travel up but it comes at the expense of travel down. This results in an annoying knock whenever the wheel drops into even a small pot hole and the suspension bottoms out. But then this is a functionality issue not a maintenance issue.

I have over 50K on my Laredo X with QL and I only had one problem at about 1,000 miles. The light came on for overheat, when I took it in they cleared it and it's never done it since. I have not had a single issue since and I really like it.

One of the benefits that I've had that I wouldn't have thought of is when I'm working in the engine bay (Sparkplugs etc) I can lower it down to Park mode and it's easier to access the engine. Not that I work on it much but it is nice when I do. My wife's Limited doesn't have QL and I just changed her plugs and it wasn't as easy since it couldn't be lowered.

I would go with QL, it's worth it. Problems are almost non-existant.

The vast majority have no QL problems in my search. I had a leak in mine that took 5 weeks in the shop for diagnosis and repair. In the end they had to change the front lines/valves and the compressor. The leak was temperature dependent (below -10 C) and so that delayed the diagnosis, then it took almost two weeks to get the parts from Detroit. I'm scheduled to return for a recheck two weeks after repair.

Despite that, this has been my best GC over the years. It's my 4th consecutive GC and my best all round vehicle.

Thanks for all the feed back folks. I guess I won't worry about it as much as I was.
I just get a touch concerned as I am in the mountains with no dealerships within hours of driving.
The vehicle it's self drives and looks wonderful, I'm sure it will get me home in the winter.
Last year I had to drive home in over two feet of fresh snow. It was coming over the hood.

In fact there is no TSB out to deal with the Self Leveling Shocks (SLS). There are a 3-4 TSBs dealing with knocking noises of the standard shocks and 2 TSBs with knocking noises of the SRT8 shocks. From that perspective there is less issue with the QuadraLift in regards with knocking noises of course.

All with SLS are looking forward to Chrysler to bring out a TSB to fix it!

I see the Ram truck is offering QL as well; not sure how similar it is but I would suspect it's probably pretty close if not identical. Maybe larger components.

A similar thing happened to me. I think it was the day I took delivery. The QL overheat light came on. While I was sitting there in dazed disbelief pondering what to do next, it kindly went out and hasn't come back since.

I have QL on my Laredo X which now has 26,788 happy miles on it. So far, I had only one problem with the system which was caused when I added aftermarket HID lights back in March of 2011. The HID lights was not working correctly on the HI-SPEED Cam bus causing the QL to crazy. Once my installer got the right adapter for the HI-SPEED Cam bus, all problems were solved with QL.

With the new tires on now, I believe I do here the knocking noise which everybody is talking about. The noise is not loud at all. The next service, I will look into it.

The knocking noise as far as I can tell, is coming from the rear when turning. It is a very light noise, like a thump. Next month, I plan to bring in for them check. Last time, after I had two wheel bearing replace under warranty, they went over the undercarriage and no other problems were found.

The Nokian Rotiva At's have same the noise level as the Firestone Destination AT which I had years back, quiet so far. New tires should not matter to the QL as long the tire is not rubbing in the well while driving.
