Idk about the compressor. Just seems like a hack dealership rape session. I recall doing some homework. Was going to purchase a valve block for the compressor online if it happened again. My bags weren’t leaking and lines were good. Compressor still works. It’s been 6 weeks since I had the issue. Like I said. I think something in my valve block was frozen..... it happened during a 10 day in the -10> degrees

MIt is also not covered under maxcare warranty so that kinda upsets me a little as I buy it off lease and penny up for the "maxcare" 5 year / 100k maxcare and find out that it's not included which makes me now think that they have a lot of problems on older models.
The normal Mopar MaxCare Extended Service contract sold with new vehicles (or within the first 4 yrs/48K miles to the original owner) covers this completely except for a deductible if one applies to the owner's contract. It sounds like you have a contract that was sold on a used vehicle (off lease) and that contract's terms may very well be different than the one that many of us have on the JGCs we bought new. I only mention this because of your disclosure that you purchased off-lease, rather than new, and it's material to the situation.

My '14 CRD has this issue now. Took it to the dealer to find out the compressor has seized and blows fuses when they replace them. I also got the price from the dealer: $2400 for a new compressor and $400 to install and bleed system. It is also not covered under maxcare warranty so that kinda upsets me a little as I buy it off lease and penny up for the "maxcare" 5 year / 100k maxcare and find out that it's not included which makes me now think that they have a lot of problems on older models.

As I do a lot of towing and have to drive up some pretty knarly muddy roads I need it to work. So I bought a new compressor from a friend for $1200 (his cost) and I'll have the dealer install it. New unit has a 2 year warranty so at least that's some saving grace that I won't get hit if it fails again.

So I got the "Service Air Suspension Immediately" a few days ago (which is the second time since buying the vehicle 3 months ago). In both cases the vehicle had sat for 1 week at temps around 20 deg. or lower. All is well on restarts the same day or cold starts a day or so later.

I'm wondering if it's even worth taking to the dealer because I'm confident that the dealer will not be able to reproduce the problem.

I have an appointment scheduled for tomorrow at the dealership. I hope that they can find the problem. I think the air suspension should work flawlessly even if the temps dip below freezing.

And 99% of the time it does... We've had 0 to -15 temps all month of Jan and my air suspension hasn't missed a lick....Other than lousy mileage it has performed flawlessly...

Hello,

I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland and I just crossed 50,000 miles. I have a error message that pops up that says, "service air suspension immediately", unfortunately it does seem like something is wrong with it as the controls for the air suspension no longer are operating and my ride seems rougher. Now I took it to the local Jeep dealership and they instructed me to pay $2800 to replace the compressor, I said I was not doing that so they replaced a fuse and it seemed to be the fix temporarily but the error message is now back on. Have you heard of this happening before and how should I proceed? I would like to keep this vehicle for a long time.

Thank you.

So the dealership cannot replicate the problem so they want to give the car back to me untouched. I told them that it only occurs in subfreezing temps, so does this mean that I need to wait until next winter? The service advisor said, "Chrysler will not let us replace things willy nilly."

"Chrysler will not pay us for warranty repairs we cannot prove are necessary and we're unwilling to take the risk."

There. I fixed that for you. :D

So I received my '18 JGC back yesterday. As previously discussed, the dealership couldn't reproduce the problem -- no doubt because it's an intermittent problem that only occurs when the JGC sits for a few days below freezing. In any event, I understand the dealership's position. For now everything checks out okay. FCA corporate called today and closed my case; however, my complaint is noted in my record. So I guess we'll see what happens next winter.

But aside from this issue, I'm loving the vehicle!

I believe it’s a design flaw. I hear on the radio, advertisements of the new Dodge Ram with this same suspension. If they haven’t fixed this re engineered something better, people will be upset at the cost of a new one. That is, if they’re not familiar with this issue. I don’t believe dropping a new compressor into this will solve the problem. But, like you. I DO LOVE MY JGC!!

Hi everyone, I have been reading posts on here for a year now and decided that my experience with a similar problem might be of some benefit.

I bought a used 2014 GC just over a year ago and after about 3 months started getting the 'Service Air Suspension' message and took it to my local dealer 3 times and they could find no fault because each time it had fixed itself!

This went on for a couple of months during which time the Jeep warranty ended and my extended one kicked in. The symptoms were always the same but sometimes no message just failing to rise from entry/exit for a long time if at all. Last June i took it on a 1000m week long trip and it behaved perfectly but a week or two later i got a new message; ' Air suspension cooling down, please wait'. I took it to the garage and they hooked it up and found a stored code but nothing current. The stored code related to the temperature sensor on the compressor and their Jeep system said that if the code was present they had one resistance to check on the control module and if that failed they had to fit a compressor because the sensor is part of it and can't be bought separately. Compressor is £2000. Went away with it working ok.

Another week went by and the same message happened again. Each time was pretty similar; the buttons were unresponsive and if the suspension did move it had a mind of it's own. I used my Autel code reader and deleted the fault which made it ok again for a coupe of days but noted that the actual temperature reading was 212C which seemed a little high!

I decided to have a look at the compressor myself and discovered that the sensor is a separate item and can be ordered on it's own for £58. I had a word with the warranty firm and they agreed to pay for the part and labour if it worked but i would have to pay for it first! In spite of me potentially saving them £2000! Anyway, i ordered the part and the dealer fitted it.
The system has worked perfectly for the last 5 months in some pretty warm and extremely cold conditions.

This won't be the same as all of the other cases but i am very concerned that compressors may be being fitted to vehicles out of warranty for no reason. Get an actual temperature reading and try a sensor before letting them loose on the big ticket items.

BTW my local dealer in Leicester UK is Unity Automotive who have been patient and helpful at all times with a problem that they said they had not seen before but a week or so after fixing my car, they had another in doing the same!

So we have a 2018 GC HA. The dealership found one front air hose not connected but is having a time trying to find out why there is a noise like a tank topping off under the back seat. It happens all the time no matter the speed. Is there anyone else out there at hers the some noise?

Seeing similar posts regarding my issue with 2013 JGC. Dealership has it for day #4, they've replaced several parts but the leaks continue and the projected costs continue to climb. Current forecasted cost is $3200 and need 3 more days. This started with Immediately Service Air Suspension System warning. They seem perplexed as to whether the next repaired part will provide the necessary fix. I trust the team working on it and they are covering the rental car but this is frustrating and costly.

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. Bought used. Owned for three years. Last September had " Air Suspension Repair/Service needed" message pop up. Local Jeep dealership couldn't identify the problem but wanted over $1000 to look for the issue. Took it to a Jeep dealership five hours away and it was discovered that there was a blown fuse. Two months later the air compressor pump died. Had the air compressor replaced. Everything was fine until last month when "Air Suspension Repair/ Service" message popped up. Took it to the local dealership and after two hours they couldn't find anything wrong and said I need to drive it more because cars that sit break.
Some days there is no message and some days it flashes every two minutes.
Took it to the dealership today and they still can't identify why I'm getting the message and they can't do anything else.

Well my 2018 JGC TrailHawk with 24k miles and I got the Air Ride failure message. The wife said that she drove it earlier and had the message but thought it was something else. I asked here didn't she see the Ride hight Entry always on and she said yeah but again thought i was something else. I took JGC to dealership at 5pm on Friday. they msg me Sat that it appears the Compressor has failed. and it will be Tuesday before repair. I bought the jeep used with 11k miles. I had taken it to them eailer when I was having Ride Hight issue. THe Jeep would lower itself to the ground after sitting for a week or I could not get the FULL extended Right hight to work. I could hear the compressor kick on after we exitied the jeep. Well maybe this will fix issue? I thought that this feature would be a great thing, but now maybe I should of gotten a Limited edition?

Well all. Add me to the list of Impacted owners as well. I have a 2014 JGC Summit. I absolutely, positively love it. However, I too get the “service air suspension immediately” message in frigid temps. I recently took my Jeep to Princeton Baker Jeep Dodge in Princeton NJ to address recalls, the service air suspension issue, inoperable windshield washer jets, and a leaky rear passenger tire (hoping for a simple patch). Can you believe that:

1. The windshield washer jets aren’t working again
2. The service air suspension message is displaying again
3. They actually filled my tire up to 50 PSI instead of patching it so that it would slowly leak and hopefully I wouldn’t notice it.

I can only say that I’m furious with that dealer and don’t plan to take my car there ever again. They replaced the “relay” to fix the service air suspension message which clearly did not work. I think this has happened enough times to enough owners that the cause and fix should be known by now. I’m surprised a recall hasn’t been issued for this as well.
