A couple of days ago I picked up my new 2014 Cherokee. It came with a product called Zaktek, a paint protection coating that the dealer applies to all their vehicles. My question is that I would like to start using my Mequairs wax products and I was wondering if they are compatible with the Zaktek sealant that is already on my vehicle. I can't get any info on Zaktek. Thanks .....Don.

Never heard of it, did a quick search and all the pros on detailing forums, say don't do it! One guy I saw, said they could get it in Arizona for $30/application. As far as being a "coating", I only know of a few, Gtechniq, 22PLE, CarPro, Chemical Guys Second Skin, Dodo Juice Nano Coating, and Detailers Pro Paint Coating. I personally have used Gtechniq, and 22PLE, and my favorite is Gtechniq. Look on Detailed Image, and Autogeek and it will have a bunch of info on them. Easy to use...if you can wax your car, you can do a coating, they are super easy. I personally like Gtechniq Exo V2 for a new car, because you can do paint, trim, and metal with one product. I tend to stay away from Megs, but they have some go Pro line stuff, not the Autozone junk. For about $75, you can do your whole car, and it should last a couple years depending on how you care for it.
I don't have a VIN to enter at ZAKTEK Ultimate Protective Coating to see what it would say about application schedules, but it would make me very nervous that the vendor would think this type of information important.
It is either marketing hype to scare you into renewing or just possibly searching for permanent removal instructions would be appropriate.
Yea, didn't understand why they need a VIN to make a schedule for application...maybe for the build date to see how soon they can put it on? Weird. If someone really wants 5 year protection, Opti-coat, or look at Gtechniq C1 topped with Exo V2...Optic coat just doesn't give the gloss or as much beading long term, but still provides great long term protection even without the beading(no beading doesn't mean it has worn off) from what I've heard.
Well the vehicle came with the first Zaktek coating on it from the dealer. Now I'm just going to use my typical wash and wax items on it (Mequiar's). I just was wondering if using other products over the Zaktek coating would cause any problems (compatibility). I won't be getting the next scheduled "free" Zaktek applications. I prefer to care for the finish on my own as I typically do. The Zaktek supposed to be a paint sealant protectant. I don't know what the composition of it is. Like you noticed, their website does not really give you any information about the product.

Never heard of it either, but any products used over it shouldn't pose any problems.
Hindsight is 20/20, but the dealer applied coatings are a great way to get you to part with a considerable chunk of your hard earned money for little more than a coat of who-knows-what-product they apply.
The fact that there is no real information available on it makes it seem even more "scam-ish" to me.
