So I bought my new JGC a little over a week ago now. Loving it so far, but I do have a few questions that I hope some of you can answer.

Anyways, I originally bought the 7/70K warranty and oil change package. He tried hard to sell me the Appearance package too, but I declined that. On the way home, the wife was nagging me about it, especially since it was our 1st leather interior. Was told the package would cover rips and tears.

When I got home, I double checked the figures for the warranty and see I could have saved $1000 for the exact same warranty, or spend another $150 for lifetime.....

So the following morning, I went back. I told him what I found and said I'll like to cancel unless you can match the price. Well he tried to talk me out of stating, if you buy from out of state, it wont be valid in Washington state. Told me he's seen some fraudulent websites that were getting sued. I told him about JG and told him people have been doing just fine buying through Zeig. At the end, he gave up and started doing a refund.
Except as he was looking over on his computer, he see's that my loan has been approved, but hasn't funded yet.

Told me I could just start over and redo an application instead of doing a refund, which works out for me because I'll be financing less and lower payment. In doing this, I remember the wife's concern about the Appearance package and asked about it. They do some paint protection, fabric protection and leather protection. 7yr warranty for under $500.
I kept the oil change package.

Anyways, when I got home with my Appearance Protection pamphlet, I started googling what it was all about. The reviews were sketchy. I talked to a Detailer and he told me they just use some shitty sealant on the paint, spray some fabric protection like Scotchguard. Then it just comes down to a warranty period protection.

So I decided I might do the detailing myself, since I already have that stuff. I remember I had some 303 Fabric Guard. That's 2 out of 3 already.

The dealership called a couple of days later for me to bring the car in for the treatment, but I declined and told them I'm still on the fence about it and may just get a refund.

I also dug through my paperwork on the details of the oil package, but I can't seem to find anything. No pamphlets no details. Pretty sure I remember him telling it's for 5yrs, but that's all.

So I'm hoping some of you can answer that for me before I go back to the dealership. Like I said, it's been 8 days now.

Is the Appearance Protection package bullshit? What are the details of the oil change? How often can I get an oil change? Dealer specific location only? Or any Jeep dealer?

I'm sure that oil package covers synthetic oil. Bet not. I'd put nothing less in my baby.

Since the guy lied straight to your face about warranty out of state being invalid, why would you give him a dime for anything extra.

So I just happened to search for the right phrases and found what I was looking for. It actually took me to jeep.com and to a mopar listing.

I was able to punch in my info and up came my plan.

Here's the details.
6 yrs

OIL AND OIL FILTER CHANGES:
The Plan provides for 24 oil and oil filter changes. The Plan will pay up to $20.00 for

each oil/filter change and lube. Any dealer charges in excess of the amount allowed by the Plan are your responsibility.

This service MUST be performed by a Dealer and used by the expiration date of the plan.

Of course they don't tell you of the $20 limit.

I bought this plan for $445+tax. So, 24x20= $480. So I net $35 dollars over 6 years....

Looking online and seeing coupons for oil changes at the dealer for $25-30.

I don't really see a point of this package at all if you have to pay the difference.

So looks like I'll be cancelling the Oil package too and Appearance.
There appears to be a $25 cancellation fee with the Oil package though.

Anything the dealer is selling is a rip off. Do not buy any packages of any kind. Extended warranties, apperance packages or oil change deals are all not recommended buy many consumer mags and consumer organizations. Buy yourself some Ziano leather care for the interior, look for oil change specials, and use the saved cash to pay for future repairs. Don't forget you have a drivetrain warranty from the factory.

Given that the leather on GC. Seats is coated leather, the Zaino stuff is a rip-off, too. Zaino, of course, doesn't tell you that.

So I just called and talked to the service dept. $40 is the standard oil change, but he did state that if you do have the Lube, Oil, and Filter package. You do not pay out of pocket, unless you select synthetic oil. The $20 payment is from Chrysler to the dealer.

I also called to try and cancel my Appearance Protection package. They say I can't cancel this one, even though I haven't had the work done yet.

With that dino pee package, you can still go synth by just paying the difference which should be about $20.

Although I'd probably find another dealer unless their office staff looks like playboy bunnies--but with brains--after the crap about out of state warranties sold by Chrysler--they may have a oil change package that does full synth available from the dealer service department. The saving isn't much, but it is a saving and if their price increases, yours doesn't.

If you change a bit more frequently, it plus your EW changes and about $20 bucks every other change could work out. Ask the service manager, not the sales or finance folks--they have different motivations.

Dealer add on package and "administrative" fees are all mark-ups where the dealer generally makes his biggest profit in selling a car. Years ago a "special undercoating protection package" was a popular rip-off many dealers tried to add on (never mind that each vehicle has undercoating protection applied at the factory).
