So just got home and got under my jeep and could not find anything!!;((((((
I hate that for you---doesn't it just irritate the hell out of you when you spend that much money on a vehicle and it rattles. There are 2 major threads about clunking noises in the rear end of 2011--2012 Jeeps. You are the first 13 I've heard of. I HOPE you don't have the rear suspension noise many of us have related to shocks and a few other things. Maybe it's just an axle coming loose or some major component about to fall off--that would be a blessing. Our sound is a clunk and almost like a pop when you go over anything that torques the suspension in the rear. If it is the suspension noise, go find a therapist-you'll need one. Bottom line on that at the moment is that Jeep is aware (finally) of the problem but does not have a fix for it. They put out a few TSBs but none of them quieted things down for good...the noise would always come back. Please post back and let us know what they find. Good luck!

I hope the new shocks take care of your problem. Hopefully they redesigned the mounts or something and that will be all you need. On the other end of the spectrum, I have had 3 sets of shocks put on--1)factory shock left side broken seal 2) next set left rear--comes loose-can grab it with my hand through the rear wheel and shake it back and forth 3) this set-left rear blown seal-leaks so much oil from shock it made puddles under the car 4) clunk still here but shocks are in one piece. Did I mention this started in Feb??

Sorry didn't mean to rain on your parade--I truly hope you are cured. I tell you this so that if it goes on a run like mine, it won't be too shocking (no pun intended-really)
New TSB out apparently today. Looks like they are going to replace the upper shock mounts.

2nd time they tried that. Thankfully I ordered and took new upper mounts with me to the dealer and had them replaced at same time as shocks--few weeks ago. Guess I'll know soon enough. Still quiet--3 weeks-lol!
This does not involve changing shocks or mounts it is a new set of parts for the mount including bushings.
Read the TSB.

In your opinion will this solve the problem?
I hope. I was one of these GC owners that had the problem chased for a year taking my jeep 8 times to change shocks under warranty.
Also chase jeep under my country laws and i was able to persuade my dealer to buy back and get me a new 2014 overland to be ever happy with it.
Good luck in good faith is the only thing i can say but it looks to me they have made the correct changes to have a great possible solution.

Well well isn't that interesting. So they totally eliminated any direct metal to metal contact between the shaft and upper shock mount. That suggests that the shaft was banging against the mount laterally and vertically especially when the shock heated up and had a little more play in the shaft which after a period of time would stress the seals to where the shocks eventually fail.So a lower bushing with a metal sleeve inside it fitted into the lower side of the mount and a bushing (looks like a piece of heater hose cut to fit) under the metal washer on top side of mount would help reduce torque and movement on the shaft. I bet that lower bushing is thicker than the previous one. I think that just may work. I'd feel better if the upper bushing was solid like the bottom one. Better call my dealer before the banging starts again.:D
