I am now in the process of doing the rear end SRT to my jeep and i am looking up the parts needed in the justforjeeps section and am wondering if i need the bumper absorber or do i already have that on my jeep. im geussing its the foam piece? ive got the bumper, all i would need is the clips and the 2 lights aswell the chrome strip. My other question is about the chrome strip, does it come with the park sense holes?

for reference to what im speaking about

SRT8 Rear Bumper Package

Thanks,

J

You will need the bumper absorber which is made of plastic...not foam. This will replace your existing absorber. Order the chrome strip without the sensor holes since you do not already have the sensors in your original bumper. Part number is 5159087AA.

I remember Scott saying that you would have to remove so much material from the absorber to make it work that there wouldn't be much left of it. Do you already have the Parking Assist control on your control center in order to add the sensors. How do you activate them?

There's a PDF of the installation instructions on the link I sent you earlier. Looks easy enough. Doesn't look like you have to have the disable button on the center console for it to work. Also, confirm with the dealer that it doesn't need to be activated with the Starscan Tool. With parts you're at about $500 (if you do the install) Ouch! Good luck with the mod. Now's the time to do it along with the SRT rear bumper.

What is this custom exhaust mod you speak of???

yea i figured id do it, if i were installing the rear bumper, but il have to think of it twice!!!
and the custom exhaust has been all made from scratch 3" tubing! bent to fit through the old exhaust then out the middle, i just have to delete the spare tire for my fitings to work (Thrush Welded exhaust). basically a new line from the muffler out! (where it was all rusty befre) and the tips are split at the rear just for the look! all this for abour 200$

500$ for the parksense intall? dont all i need is the parkesne and thats it?! wiring etc? plus the 4 little sensors?

I was adding shipping to the Mopar Kit ($300) and the chrome rear strip ($150) with holes which you need anyway since you're converting your bumper.

Sounds like a fun project.
