So last September, I bought myself a new Jeep, a black 02 Limited. It had a few cosmetic issues, but drove/rode very good, had a new radiator and got it for a decent price.

It has a chatter in the rear end and from the research I've done, it appears to be no or not enough friction modifier. It also does a strange, rattle/gear chatter when I go from Park to Drive. *shrug*

Another issue is the drivers side exhaust manifold. The bolt broke off, and since the muffler is rusted out (and had bondo on it, :eyeroll, I was going to replace both at the same time.

I'm getting married in June and going on my honeymoon in early July and I'd like to get all these silly issues out of the way, but I just didn't have the means or place to during the winter.

I was thinking of flushing all fluids, putting in new, changing oil and filter and giving everything else a once over.

I'm looking for advice on what brands of oil, filters, and fluids, along with any advice on the issues mentioned above. Once all these are taken care of, then its gonna be time to start modding!

Welcome to the garage.
Which engine does it have?
Your jeep is Quadra Drive or has at least a Vari-loc in the rear diff, otherwise the problem is not (lack of) the friction modifier.
The rattle from the tranny when put into drive i recognize, but don't know what is causing it. My tranny did the same, but this disappeared after the rebuild last year. As long as it shifts normally and the fluid is clean and without burning smell, i would not bother too much.
I'm not much of a help on the fluid brands, because we have other brands overhere. I hear that Royal purple is very good.

Thanks, sorry, I was posting from my phone at work and I lost my text twice..

Anyway, yeah, its the 4.7, non HO. I previously had a 92 XJ, but it was getting too rusted out for me to justify dumping more money into.

I was going to go either Mobil 1 or Royal Purple, as I want this one to last at least as long as my last jeep. I'm gonna do some rustproofing this Spring, so hopefully I can knock that out before it sets in.

I've heard good things about Wix filters?

I'm also getting together a list of upgrades I'm gonna throw in once I get the exhaust and everything taken care of.

Currently the newest thing I've got on it is the tires. :frown:
