Has anyone experienced any surface rust on interior metal? The rails under center console with hand brake of my 2008 Grand Cherokee has light rust, and now the screw heads under the arm rest are developing it. I don't find any moisture getting into the cabin. Anyone tell me how to prevent it?

the mounting plate for my hand brake is rusted, that's about it. it is exposed metal so it can rust just from humidity

have a look under the dash and look for rust on exposed metal support brackets. I had rust there and the dealer told me that the used vehicle I bought must have been in a flood!

I wonder if one of those moisture absorbing kits that are sold in the RV section of Walmart would absorb the humidity?
