I have over 1200 albums ripped on my home PC / server in FLAC. I have everything from 16bit/44.1kHz CD to 24bit/88.2kHz SACD to 24bit/176.4kHz vinyl rips. I will not listen to compressed audio in any form. I tried converting some 16/44.1 FLAC files to ALAC / m4a but could not get the Jeep to recognize them. I then converted them to Windows Media Audio lossless / wma using Microsoft Expression 4 and they play beautifully. I've been testing using an old 4GB SD card without any issues (once it was formatted in FAT32). I have a 32GB Transcend SDHC card coming from Amazon. Once in hand I may try a few 24bit files to see if the Jeep will play them. I love the convenience of the SD card player.
