Depending on the year it might be covered under a safety claim, otherwise maybe try spray a little WD40 into the mechanism? I just checked, mine just push right in with no issues.
I disabled my chime so it is quiet when I don't buckle after picking up the mail. This worked:
To remove seatbelt chime...
1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, and fasten the drivers seatbelt.
2. Start engine, and wait for Seat Belt warning light to turn OFF.
3. Within 60 seconds of starting engine, unbuckle and then re-buckle driver's seat belt at least 3 times, ending with belt buckled.
4. Turn off the engine. A single chime will sound to signify that your life is in your own hands.
You can go through the steps again to turn it back on.
I didn't suggest that because as he mentioned he's having an issue with it connecting properly and the chime staying on. Time to smack it with a hammer first before pulling and replace. It can't hurt haha
