Hi all. I recently bought a 2005 wk limited 4.7 and blacked out the exterior. i am now ready to work on the interior. The first thing i want to do is put my sub and amp in the rear of it. i have a 250w jl amp and 2 10 inch jl subs. The question is what to i need to do in order to keep the steering wheel controls. i want to get a new head unit and a kit to block off the holes from the factory knobs.

2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE - stereo installation parts and wires

Metra 99-6507
Pac C2R-CHY4
Metra 40-CR10

That will all install a single din radio. You can also do a double din install if you are going with a video screen, you'll need the nav bezel from a 05-07 wk, and a different metra kit - Metra 99-6510.

Any questions feel free to shoot me a pm, i'm an MECP Advanced car audio installer that's been doing this for almost 10 years now.

Hopefully you don't have the stock BA system so you can avoid messing with that factory CANBUS amp.

I think I do. How much of a pain is it

Edit: I'm an idiot. I do not have the Boston package. Sorry I misread you post the wrong way at first
Glad to hear it. Most of us with the OEM BA system just maintain the REC headunit and amp and do a sub with LOC. I'll only replace my REC if it dies because of the extra hassle.

I got everything installed and it sounds and works great. The only issue not is that the right middle steering wheel button is going out. Ha ha just my luck.
There's a great thread on there that details the button replacements. I followed it and replaced both sets of buttons on my WK. It's amazing how different they feel when you just have to tap them vs. beat the tar out of them like I did before...
