On my 07 Cherokee limited a noticed a noise that seems to be coming from a part called the pcv valve located on the passenger side of the intake manifold what is the purpose of that? And could that part make a bad bearing noise or might I be hearing something coming from the motor itself? Btw it's a 5.7 thanks
Please I'll take all the advice I can get at this point before I start tear down

If it is coming from a bad pcv valve just replace it for $25. Twist and pull out. Make sure that the hoses are tight and not cracked. Other than that its tough to say. Could be just about anything. Maybe your valves or rockers are starting to go.... You could just pop the passenger side valve cover and check it out. You could also cut your oil filter open and check for excessive metal shavings.
