I'm looking for light smoke overlays that do not fit the entire tail light but just a portion. I can't find the thread now. It was somebody they found on instagram.

Any other recommendations?

You installed to cover the whole tail light then you cut around it? what tool did you use?

I just used vinyl artists tape to go around the shape of the lens. Then masked off the areas and sprayed it on. Cost me twelve bucks for the VHT paint and an hour of my time.

Think painters tape would work? Looks really good

I used painters tape to mask off the areas. But you’ll need the vinyl tape to negotiate the curves. I used 1/8” scotch brand. Available at any craft store for three bucks. I did two coats on the inner main lens and three coats on the outer areas of the lens to make them a bit darker. My reverse light bezels are vinyl wrapped in gloss black.

Scottina06 did you apply the same vht niteshade? Did you or Sparro use a clear lacquer over the top? The finish looks super glossy over the whole light.
Tempted to do two coats of tint in the centres and put a light smoked vinyl over the whole light area.
Not sure how easy it is to source the specialist tape in the UK.

No sir...no vht. They used a transparent base black and added coats until the desired darkness was reached. Probably about 15 coats on mine. Then it was cleared.

Thanks the finish is flawless so I wondered what had been done. So many options for the centres whether to do pre cuts if I can get them mailed here or use the aerosol.
Either way I'm going to a light smoked skin over the top.
I take it the braking still shows through ok?
