Hi all! I hope this is in the right section

I am going to be buying a jeep very soon I am stuck between a 2005 gc lim 4.7 QT2 with some options(this jeep is mint) with88k Or I can choose a 06 gc limited hemi QD2 loaded with nav and 127k the price is about the same and the 06 has cracked leather on the drivers seat and the front bumper has some scuffs for yellow posts. I guess the real question is should I go with quadrant drive and a hemi over quadrant trac. And a 4.7. I will be doing light to average offloading and will be using it as a dd along with pulling a small trailer with my dirt bike on it. Thanks in advance, colin

IF its a limited it is a quadradrive too. If my memory serves me at least the first 2 years of the WK were very cut and dry, laredo you ONLY had the 4.7 or 3.7 and NO quadradrive (quadratrac with the 4.7l) and limited you could not get WITHOUT the quadradrive but you didnt even have the option of a V6 in the limited. later years they started throwing the hemi in laredos and your guess is as good as mine.

If I had my choice now I would get a hemi (but the Hemi WK wasn't available for 1k dollars and my 4.7 was) the 08 and newer 4.7l makes some decent power but the hemi just has more guts and is less problematic motor in general.

Well I just came back after test driving the 05 I have also driven the 06 2 times before. The 05 does not say quadra drive or quadra trac under the shifter. The guy said it was quadra trac2. Man that thing was so clean inside and out and had only 2 things wrong with the outside. 1 there was a small door ding on the passenger rear close to the taillight and there is a small scratch close to the top. Not a big deal. It's an 05 so I would expect small things. I'm now leaning at the 05

Limiteds can have QT2, and if its a 4.7 than more than likely it does. The gen2 4.7s(08-10) are better than the gen1s, but the gen1's are still good engines. The qt2 will serve fine for light to average offroading. With the lower miles, and the fact it's in mint condition, I would be partial to the 05. I would always go with the rig that's in the best condition. Look at available service history, and if you live in a northern climate where the roads are salted make sure you take a good look at the underside. If the options that the 06 has are really important to you, then go for that, but options won't do you any good if the truck doesn't run well.

Whatever you do DO NOT BUY A 4.7L WK. That engine sucks as much gas as a hemi and produces almost half the power. Big difference in hp, almost like a v6 in this truck. I bought my 05 jeep wk a couple months ago, and test drove a hemi a 4.7 and even a srt8. The srt8 was the best but I didn't have the money. I'm gonna rip up my 5.7 and build it out to 6.4l. Keep searching for a good 5.7. If you don't have money for a good 5.7, go down to a 04 wj with an ho 4.7l and qd2. Offroading the qd2 does have more traction and feels better. If a car is in bad condition outside, god knows what's going on in the inside of that engine and trans. If your buying from a dealer get them to do a compression test. In fact you can do it yourself quite easily a tester is pretty cheap and will tell you exactly how good of a condition the engine is in. Good luck.

The 2008 4.7 is a great engine. 300 horsepower and 20 ish mpg.

I would say keep looking and avoid 2005 if you can (first year issues). Lots of issues with 2005's on this and other wk forums.
