I'm thinking about having a clear bra installed got a quotes from $1085 to $1300 hood and bumper Xpel. Live in San Francisco so maybe the price is higher than other places or is that about right. Can get the 3m done for $750 . I'm wondering how much it cost to to just have the front bumper area and hood repainted whenever it needs it. I would hate to have this stuff installed for 1k some tard smacks my car in the parking lot like always then drives away and I need to have a new bumper anyways and have new clear bra installed for another $1000. Anyone on here in the auto body business that can give an estimate? Normally I wouldn't even bother with a bra because I live in the city but my other cars front end is thrashed from sand and rocks even the windshield is pitted from driving down to LA on the 5 drive there about 4 times a year damn that's a rough road on cars or maybe Nissan's paint is soft?

All paint is soft now. It's the EPA.
Anything over 700 is expensive. I can't speak for west coast pricing though. I got Ventureshield applied to the whole front bumper, 1/3 of hood and front fenders, and mirrors for $550.
3m just came out with a DIY spray on clear bra. If that was out, I'd have tried it. 3m products always do exactly what they claim to do. Amazing products and company.

i happen to be an appraiser in the body shop bizzness out here in CO. we charge about $400-$500 just for the front bumper and $300 for a 12" coverage for the hood and fenders. so anywhere from $700-$800. I do know it costs more $ out there for it. I personally have my rig wrapped like crazy with this and its prob a bit too much >(bumper,grille,head lamps,hood,fenders,front edge of roof,front upper door frames,mirrors,lower front fenders,bottom rocker moldings and on all 4 doors below the side moldings)< but it is more of a benefit out here with our winter conditions etc . Anyhow, Not sure it would be worth it out there for you pending your road conditions etc . Average cost for front end refinish would be about $1200-$1500 roughly.. Eventually I want to begin to take all that shi% off my jeep before it begins to age more..

does it work well and does it scratch or swirl? yeah I'm thinking anywhere from $1200-2000 to get repainted if it gets pitted and scratched that's why I can't see paying over a grand for xpel. I mean its a factory paint job not some 10k paint job or an old collectors car with original paint. I understand why people have the protection film put on I just can't justify $1300. lowest quote I got was $1085 and their shop reviews weren't as good as the others that quoted higher. Maybe I should just drive slower or take the hwy1 when I go down to socal Thank you for that info much appreciated

I paid $500 at the dealership to apply the 3M stuff...with lifetime warranty.
Nose: including bumper, grill, and front portions of the front fenders, and 12" up on the hood.
Problem was it took whomever performed the application a whole 3 times to get it right. Black shows every imperfection/stretch mark in the clearbra.
I personally love the stuff (had it applied on my last three vehicles as well), and would never even consider driving a new car off the lot without it.

Is it true the problem with the 3m product is its possible yellowing over time as opposed to expel?

I have 3M Ventureshield installed on the Lexus, bumper, lights, 1/3rd hood & fenders and the backs of the mirrors. VERY happy with it, I've had several Lexus sedans and they are prone to paint chipping.
That said...I do not have it on the Jeep, and its about ready to roll over 30k miles. The Jeep doesn't have many chips at all, don't know if its better paint, or if it has to do with it being higher off the ground, but there are a couple that have been well touched up. I definately would not go back in time and put it on the Jeep, lets just put it that way.

I'd say that any reputable shop will warranty against yellowing with whatever product line they choose to carry and install.
If anyone tries the 3M spray, let us know how good it is.
