After purchasing 4 Jeep Wrangler wheels 17" (U1BZ81DD5AWHEEL 6501AA) to mount snow tires I found out they did not have enough offset to clear the brake calipers on My 2014 Summit 5.7. with 20 " wheels.
So I purchased 18 " aftermarket wheels and used the sensors from the Wrangler wheels.
At first the readings from the original wheels appeared , then the yellow TPMS warning light appeared briefly and went out, then 4 red tire images appeared in the EVIC with no readings. After 100 miles they are still there. On checking ads for replacement Mopar sensors they seem to be the same part # for both (except SRT8). If they are compatible they should be done the learning cycle by now.
Anyone know what is happening?

I'm not sure with jeep but with my lexus they had to be programmed into the car via the obd port.

Many of the TPMS sensors are compatible across the Chrysler, Ram, Jeep and Fiat line within the last 3-4 years. You are correct the SRT are not compatible with the standard JGC.

They should start working pretty quickly, think the 10 minutes over 15mph is kinda worst case... The tpms on my snow tires/wheels were working as I was driving out of the shop...

Maybe incompatible or bad sensor I would think

My snows didn't switch over (OEM Ebay Sensors) on their own and needed a little help. After they were "programmed" they almost immediately came up. Like before I left the parking lot of the tire dealer.

They are supposedly added to a "List". So when switching back in the Spring I shouldn't have a problem.

There is no reprogram but sometimes a "stop" needs to be involved to relearn new sensors. The dealer can use a scanner to reset to speed things up, but its unnecessary.

Your wrangler sensors are not compatible with the WK2. They have used different sensor frequencies on Wrangler 18s and 17s over the years. What year wrangler? Folks seem to have less WK2 issues when using OEM sensors, which you can get for $50 a set on eBay. The WK2 uses the 433MHz part no. 56029398AB sensors.

There are aftermarket sensors that need programmed.

Not on the 2014. I got aftermarket wheels for snow tires but had them put in mopar sensors. There was a period of about 15 minutes where the OEM wheels/tires were in the back end of the vehicle as it was driven home on the new ones, but never a peep out of the TPMS.

You MAY need to reset the warning using OBD, which any tire dealer could do--and a good one would be able to see if the transplanted sensors are functional and broadcasting.

Sorry to bump this thread, but I figured this would at least keep all the info in the same place.

I just bought a 2015 JGC Summit with the 20"wheels. I had a 2014 JGC Limited with 18" aftermarket wheels and I took those wheels with me when I traded the '14 in. The TPMS on the '14 worked fine with the new 18's, but when I put them on the summit yesterday, they have the same issue as the OP, red lines and no values at all.

I am going by my local tire shop today to see if they can scan the sensors, but if that is not solving it, my next step would be to order new ones, rather than cannibalize the 20"wheels.

Now, looking at justforjeeps Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor - Item # 68078861AA, 68001696AB, 56029465AB, 56029359AC & 56029481AB #TPMSensor, I find 2 options, the 68241067AB, for the WK2 jgc with 18" wheels, or the 56029400AE for the 2015 with 20" wheels.

I would be inclined to get the 56029400AE, as that is what is in the OEM wheels. I am having a hard time figuring out why there would be a difference between the 18" and 20"versions though, it's just a pressure sensor, right?

While at your tire shop, ask them. Particularly if it is Discount or similar chain shop with a pretty good set of data. There is a rebuild kit for them most shops have, but it seems odd that a 2014 should need them already unless your local humidity is able to drain the batteries.

I actually ended up going to the Jeep dealership, as that was on my way home. They tested the sensors and confirmed they were working, the tech was of the opinion that the 2015's are different.

Although I still think that it may have something to do with the 20's vs 18's, although truth be told, it doesn't make any real sense...

So I am going to buy the sensors that are recommended for the 20's and see what that does.

TPMS sensor part number 56029398AB worked just fine on my 15' Laredo. I put custom 18" wheels and tires to replace my 17" stock Laredo wheels. I left the original sensors in the original wheels and tires and stored them in my garage. I bought the new sensors for the tire shop to install in my new wheels. It took them a few miles to register the proper tire pressure, but at no point did I encounter red lines at all. Hope this helps.

Looking through the Mopar catalog the factory 20" wheels on the 2014 Grand Cherokees come with the 56029398AB sensor and the 2015 Grand Cherokees use the 68241067AB sensor. So the sensors may indeed be working properly but the 2014 sensors just are not being recognized by the system in your 2015. The 2014 can use both sensor numbers but the 2015 only uses the 68241067AB sensors.

Corey. See my post right above yours.
He's saying that this is specifically for the trucks that came with the 20" wheels oem. The others with the 18" wheels may still use the part number you quote.

How does the sensor know what size the wheel is?
Does a 2015 jeep have different TPMS frequencies between 17, 18 and 20 inch wheels?
Haha, that's exactly what I have been wondering! It's just a pressure sensor??
What itvould be, is that the receiver on the 2015's with 20" wheels is different, and as such does not recognize the '14 sensor. Odd that jeep would do that though...

What would the purpose of a different receiver be? What would drive an engineer to decide that a 20" wheel would require a differenet TPMS receiver than a 17" or 18" wheel? In fact, why would Jeep spend extra money on multiple sensor design when one size would fit all. That doesn't fit the corporate number cruncher model.

I bought and used 4 56029398AB TPMS sensors and put them on 18's. My Jeep is a 2015.
Basically what is being said here is, If I had bought my Jeep with 20" factory wheels and decided to use the 56029398AB sensors in the 18" wheels I put on, or any size wheel for that matter with the 56029398AB sensors, I'd get red lines on the dash readout.

That pretty much correlates with what I am experiencing at the moment.

I am swapping out my sensors shortly, I will report back with the results.
