I found this tire study on line and was very surprised by the stopping distance info on worn tires.

Page 43-44 shows that when braking with 4/32" remaining tread depth worn tires , you could still be traveling at almost 40 mph at the point where new tires would have stopped or a difference of about 86 feet.


Interesting read.

Very interesting. Michelin Defender LTX consistently performed better than the others, but it still had significant degradation.
