II have a TJ that was involved in a wreck. The front axle housing on the right (long) side appears to be bent back about 1/4'' in the vicinity of the upper control arm mount. How much if any can a axle housing be bowed and not create problems? The pinion shaft and the axle shafts seem to turn rather easy, ie; nothing is tightly bound up. TIA.

I would say you should replace the housing. The tolerance may not cause any issue with the axle shaft but it could be creating an weakness and will certainly have an effect on your overall alignment.

You should be able to pick up a low pinion D30 with the proper gears for a reasonable price. They were used on the TJ, XJ, and ZJ.
