I was so pumped to take delivery last week I didn't pay attention to the pre installed front plate. Took it off yesterday to reveal 4 holes on the bumper of my new Overland.:mad::mad: Any options here? In the pics on dealer site it already had plate installed before I took delivery (and it had only been on lot 2 days). In other words, they put these holes in every car they take delivery of before they know the would-be buyer's intentions?

note: another dealer told me he will NOT put on front plates until it it requested by buyer

You're probably SOL. Unless you explicitly told the dealer *not* to do it, and it sounds like that never happened.

It's either A) deal with it and put it back on or B) drop the cash at a body shop to have it fixed.

I'd rather have a plate there than 4 holes. So, if you don't want to spring to have the bumper repaired, find a plate to put in the holder.

Or see if you can find 4 screws with flatter heads and install them, but use your body color touch up paint on them before you install. Thats the only thing i have seen people do that looked the best. I hate the plate on the front and told my dealer I wouldn't take delivery of one with that already installed or drilled.

Mine had the same issue because the Jeep was brought in from a NY dealer. I just got some plugs and touch-up paint to fill the holes. Lesson learned for me is "next time", if a car has to be brought in, it comes from another PA dealer, not NY, NJ, etc., that all require front plates.

unfortunately front tag placement on the jeep is visually odd and detracts from the holistic appeal of the vehicle design. Law or not, while required in my state, will keep it in the center console when MY 2014 is in possession.
Great idea on the home made plugs.

I have to agree. I know it's CA law for the front plates, but I told the dealer not to put it on and I'll deal with the outcome of not having it. Not having it on makes the front look so much cleaner too.

I live in IL and front plates are required, however I ran 4 years on my last car without one and never got pulled over for it. I agree that the car looks 10x better without a front plate plus doesn't eat up the value by drilling holes into it. When I bought my car I told the dealer NOT to drill holes in it when it arrived. (I probably called them every other day to remind them lol). Well they listened and I got it with no holes :) Looks much better!!

That's pretty neat. I can see myself getting arrested for arguing with the cop that pulls me over for not having the plate and sneaking it out to prove him wrong.

I think it can come out with the jeep starting and go back in when its shut down. At least then if you drive it, its not bugging you when you look at it, and you are legal.

I would not be able to pull off the "Do you know why I pulled you over... Not really... no front plate... What, there is a front plate.... Oh, I swear I didn't see one.. well good day to you officer, cut back on the drinking"

They drilled in to mine also...totally forgot to tell them not to install it. I'm in a front plate required state but I was hoping to mount the plate in something lower profile that requires less holes. Oh well.

That's hilarious!

On a side note, chances are, you won't get pulled over for not having the front plate. But you probably WILL get dinged for it once the cop has you on the side of the road for speeding or... whatever.
