I've noticed lately that my '12 with the stock all season tires has gotten progressively more "darty" for lack of a better term, especially on rutted or uneven pavement.

On some roads it almost feels like there's something loose in the suspension but I've checked and everything seems solid.

Has anyone else noticed theirs becoming less planted or more sensitive to road imperfections as it gets more miles on it?

BTW, mine's fairly low mileage, ~14,000 on a 2012.

I would rather rule everything else out before I trash $1600 worth of tires that still have at least 10000 miles left in them.

Typically the wider the tires the more they will tend to track...the skinnier they are the less they track. Having said as much, tires can do this with age, and espcially if your psi is off just 1 or 2 psi from one side the the next. I would check the tires for any uneven wear, if not, then I would just say you may have to live with it for another 10,000 miles or get new tires.

yeah...if they only have 10k miles left and are over a couple years old...they may be starting to dry out etc.

16,000 here and no problems but i did change the camber when i got the jeep as far down as i could get it. stock settings were LF -1.3 / RF -1.7 / LR -1.3 / RR -1.5. Changed to LF -0.6 / RF -.08 / LR -.08 / RR -.08.

STOCK TOE was LF 0.28 / RF 0.33 / LR 0.24 / RR 0.05.
Changed to LF 0.13 / RF 0.14 / LR 0.11 / RR 0.12

STOCK CASTER was LF 5.1 / RF 5.0.
Changed to LF 5.4 / RF 5.7. They changed the caster because of the big change in the NEW camber settings.
Everyone ask me how does it corner and i said i cant tell any diff.

I definitely do need to have the alignment checked, I'm sure it's off considering a couple of dirt roads I frequent are pretty hard on the suspension.

Tire pressures are constantly checked and adjusted, I'm anal that way, probably because of all the road racing I've done over the years.

Gotta get it in for 12K service (did oil, just didn't get the rest of the checks done), get the alignment done and live with it until I decide on which tires I want.

Thanks.

Remember my alignment numbers are not stock as the WK2 have a lot more -camber than the WK1 had so i did this to keep the camber down so the inner wear wont wear out the inner rib like they did on my 07.

Yes, I know the SRT has different specs and that's one of my concerns, finding a shop in the backwater town that has a clue.......

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE ALIGNMENT. IF THEY DONT SET IT RIGHT, IT WILL BE TWICE AS DARTY ALL OVER THE PLACE. My Jeep had some braking problems they took it all apart they replaced all the stuff and then decided to do an alignment and ****ed it all up. If you want the exact specs, I have them in my email. I can send it over. Camber has to be exactly -1.6 on each side in the front and -1.3 in the back on each side. It has a considerable amount of toe if that's not there then your steering feels really light. Not SRT like at all. Had a shit experience got the right specs, took it to a racing shop paid 130 dollars, they match the specs we were all good.

Unless your tires are wearing abnormally, I wouldnt worry. The less tread you have the less give the tires has from a short tread depth. You're basically working your way to having a set of closed course slicks on the Jeep, which are going to grip tons more than a new set of rubber. It IS going to hunt a lot more on the road as the tread disappears.

Like Rob said. Dont let a Chryco know-it-all mess with your alignment unless your tires are showing a severe ill-alignment issue.

If you have the Michelin Latitudes, suggest checking out the Michelin M+S2 as a replacement. The Latitude is "ok" but not in the same class as a M+S2.

The LTX AT2 is quite a bit noisier than the M+S, doesn't seem to wear as long, and really doesn't offer all that much more traction.

Last couple thousand miles I have begun to notice the same as mjw noticed in his OP. I have 25,400 miles on my stock all seasons, probably have another 5-8k left on them. have noticed the truck to be a bit darty, unstable on slightly rutted or cupped roads and highways. I drive I-95 mostly, and the far right lanes are rutted from 18-wheelers. Definitely not 100% confident at 70-75MPH.

When I hit about 20 something thousand miles I noticed it getting a little unnerving with my SRT8 having a mind of its own, wanting to go where it wanted, not where I wanted. Last month I put on Toyo Proxes ST's the older style. Not ST2. I have had years of experience with them.

I love the way they ride. More comfortable ride all way around and 1/2 the price of OEM Pirelli run flats too.

I’ve noticed rutty roads from day one. Like someone else said it’s the wide tires. I have 12,000 miles on mine now. Speaking of tires, has anyone put on the pirelli scorpion ice and snow tires?
