After a little bit of reading online, I have a feeling I'm about to get angry with the dealer whom I have preliminarily agreed to buy from. On Wednesday, we agreed to price on the one I wanted. I told the salesperson that I had three requirements: leather, navigation and Bluetooth. Limited it is. After studying the sticker, I see where my vehicle is outfitted with the NAV ready UConnect 8.4a unit.

Am I right to assume that Im going to show up and have them try to charge me another $600 to give me NAV? If so, that's crap. He knew NAV was my top non-negotiable.

How should I proceed? Any chance the dealership made the deal with me, all the while planning to cover the $600 themselves? This vehicle is going to be picked up today and is 150 miles from home. I will be 9 kinds of angry if I show up and get hassled over the NAV issue.

Sorry for my frustration. I know I'm a newbie. Car purchases are very emotional though and I'm so excited about mine. The last thing I want is to show up and be disappointed. Thanks, in advance, for your help.

Don't you think the first thing to do is call the dealer and ask?

Nobody here will know if he included the nav in the price.

If not, see if you can choose another Jeep with the ra4, it might be a better choice.

Best of luck.

I'm sorry...I asked several questions in my rant. My main question that brought me here was to verify that I was right...the UConnect 8.4a has to be upgraded. Is that right? It is not like most vehicles that you buy with Navigation, such as my wife's Denali, where you get in, turn the key and hit the navigation button and go. This car does not have NAV. It has the ability to add it (for a fee).

Am I correct on all of that?

Second question:

During my research of this issue, I came across a Service Manager in my area that says that currently 8.4a units cannot be upgraded for NAV. According to him, there is an issue with the Heated Seat/Climate UConnect interface that prevents NAV from being added, at present. Has anyone else heard this or able to shed more light on what this Service Manager told me?

Thanks again!

I'd press him HARD to throw in the navigation if it is not there. They can either add it for no charge or get you a vehicle that has it. The dealer is probably a lot wealthier than you so it is pocket change to him/her.

The 8.4a needs the software installed. When done we've been told it will be inferior to the nav in the 8.4an.

The 8.4an is like what you're used to. Buy the car, turn on the nav and go.
