Anyone else having issues with the Uconnect Remote start not working? 2018 with 4C radio, started becoming intermittent about a month ago then not working at all over the past couple of weeks. All i get back is the message that "remote start failed", ive called into uconnect service multiple times over the past month and all they say is its been escalated.

I had issues with the Uconnect remote start not working. It worked fine for the first year I owned the vehicle. So, I subscribed for another year and that's when the problems began...especially after the software update (summer 2017). My remote start worked fine with the key fob, and the Uconnect remote start/door lock/door unlock (through the phone app) would all work for about 15 minutes after the engine was shut off. After that 15 minutes passed, only the key fob worked. It seemed as though the computer would enter a sleep-mode and not accept any mobile Uconnect remote commands.

I disconnected the battery for a short period and that did not help. I uninstalled and re-installed the phone app and that did not help. Days before my subscription ended, I read about the soft and hard software resets. I did not try either of those because I didn't want to lose all of my settings for everything and then have to re-enter it all. If you take your GC to the dealer, this is probably what they will do (according to other owners with similar issues).

My subscription ended earlier this month and I have not renewed it.

I had the same issue with my 2015 with the 8.4AN radio (it's a software related problem, radio choice shouldn't matter). The Uconnect system worked perfect during the first year of ownership. I renewed the subscription for a second year and had problems ever since.

The remote start, door lock, and door unlock would only work for about 20 minutes after shutting the engine off. Beyond that time limit, all remote Uconnect commands failed. The key fob was the only choice for those functions. Another owner reported similar issues and said that there was a bug in the Uconnect software causing it to enter into a sleep mode shortly after the engine was shut off. Supposedly, this shouldn't happen until after 7 days of inactivity.

I tried uninstalling and the reinstalling the mobile phone app and that didn't work. I disconnected the battery terminal for a short period of time and that failed. I did not attempt the software reset feature through the radio itself. With only a few days remaining on my subscription, I did not want to mess with it anymore. If you choose to have the dealer look at it, they will most likely perform the software reset which should bring everything back to factory spec. However, there are no guarantees that this will solve the problem.

Hi zoramac,

If you'd like to send a PM with your VIN, I would be happy to look into this further for you. Is this from your app or from the key fob?

Kori,
thanks for your interest, this is a problem with either the uconnect remote service backend or the vehicle/radio itself. Signals sent directly from uconnect support fail as well, so that rules out anything on my side. i ended up taking it to the dealer yesterday after weeks of calling in to uconnect support and their promises of it being escalated and them calling me back shortly (never happened). if you think there is anything you can do on your end to help with a resolution, ill gladly send you my vin, uconnect ticket number and the dealer where it is currently located at.

thanks again

Uconnect is virtually useless to me these days. No remote start, lock, unlock, all result if FAILED notification. Now it has migrated to the Send N Go. I sent an address through the app, to the car. I got the notification in the car and when I went to load it into the Nav I was told I did not have an active Uconnect subscription. I go to the store app and it says service is available.

Very frustrating. The app works on my phone. If I had no active subscription, that wouldn't work either.

Thanks for the response. Remote commands do work, but only within 1 hour of the vehicle being shut off. After that everything fails. If I open the door everything seems to wakeup and will work for another hour. Seems the radio goes into sleep mode. uninstalled uconnect app and reinstalled many times to no avail. Have a 2017 Grand Cherokee and it works fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello whaler1,

I can't provide any technical advice so I can escalate your inquiry to our Uconnect team to get their input. Send me your VIN within a direct message to get started.

I have the exact same problem with a 2018 jeep grand Cherokee. I took the car to the dealer and I'm still waiting on them.

Does anyone have an update on this?

Same. 2018 Grand Cherokee. Brand new. Remote commands via the app stop working after a short period of time. It's like the car turns into sleeping beauty. Must unlock doors using the fob in order for the guardian app commands to start working again. Hoping for a fix.

It will be a huge dissatisfactier if I can't start my car from my office during the winter.

Hey, I do not own a Jeep, but I have the same problem with UConnect with my brand new 2018 Ram 2500 Laramie 8.4" screen. I posted on the Ram forum as well where it seems this problem has been going of for sever years!

I saw this foreum while googling for a solution. Seems like the problem is common to all FCA vehicles. No one seems to be doing anything about it!

I'm going to get some visibility on Social media about this issue so people know before they buy FCA vehicles!

Hey, Good luck with that. Never resolved for me. Spent many hours with no luck. Finally just gave up. Decided it wasn't useful enough and certainly did not pay for it when my free subscription ran out.

This is a Radio issue. In my case, after 6 months of going back and forward with Phone calls, emails and visits, they agree on changing the Radio and problem solved.

You need to go to the dealer and explain the problem, they will tell you:
- That they need to contact FCA about it
- That it's a software issue and you need to wait for an update
- That it's your phone carrier or IOS version.

In the end, these are all lies, they do not know what the problem is because it is uncommon. To avoid all of this, go directly to the service manager and complain about it. After I talked to the service manager at the dealer, he told me to perform these steps:

1. Make sure vehicle is off for an hour
2. Go out to the vehicle do not have keys in your pocket or near the vehicle if it is a keyless entry vehicle.
3. Stand next to the car and perform a door lock or unlock command using the Uconnect app and watch the cluster it should light up.
4. If it doesn’t it means the first command that wakes the vehicle up either did not make it or the vehicle did not wake up.
5. If this is the case then open and close the vehicle door and the cluster should light up.
6. Then perform a remote lock or unlock with the Uconnect app to see if it works.

In my case, my vehicle didn't pass step number 4, the cluster never lighted up. Then he told me to bring the vehicle to get the radio information because they were going to replace it.

I have also had this problem on our 2018 HA.

1) Ever since I started to log off the app I haven't had a problem. Before I would just exit the app. Without logging off I would continuously get the remote start failed error.

2) Started doing it again recently, but it turned out that my battery had a bad cell so the voltage was too low to let the remote start work. New battery solved the issue again. Although this seems stupid, the remote start is disabled if the battery voltage is low, but it will still start if you press the start button - ok, I am sure there is some sort of logic behind this. ;)

But now the weather has warmed up, so I don't use the app much anymore (maybe once it gets hot out so the AC comes on to cool it down some before I get to it).

I am experiencing the same problem with my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. After my vehicle is idle for a short period of time, remote commands fail regardless if they come from the app, the website or the SiriusXM Guardian people. It does seem like it goes to sleep and can't be woken up. If I open the door or use the key fob or drive they do work for a short period of time after I exit my vehicle.

I've had several calls with Sirius Guardian and they were unable to solve the problem. They asked me to clear my user data, but that did not fix things. For a few days after that I also experienced a situation where if I selected "assist" or "sos" I would get a message that remote services needed to be activated. When I contacted Guardian they said from their end services are activated and there is nothing to activate. But "assist" and "sos" would not work. After 4 days they started working again, but the remote services still don't work after the vehicle sits idle.

The remote commands worked for the initial 12 months, but then became problematic around the time I renewed. Not sure what changed and why they stopped working. Maybe coincidental, maybe a firmware update around that time broke the functionality. It's very frustrating this point. From this thread it sounds like someone did a radio replacement and that solved the issue?

Sounds like I'm having the same issue as everyone else. Would be nice if the feature ever worked but ended up having my subscription lapse as it's the only Guardian feature I used... And rarely worked. Hopefully they have this fixed with future vehicles!
