I thought of getting it too but not if there's a monthly charge as stated on jeep.com seems like a great option to have.

Nope... you can add it t anythng... 08-09 you could order it pre installed, but short of that, you can buy it through parts.

I tested it for Mopar, worked good, but the service is pricey, as you have to pay it all up front.

OR you could go the cheaper route and use your rooted Android phone as a wi-fi hotspot for free. I do it for road trips all the time and just plug the phone into the cigarette lighter adapter. You can also do it on non rooted phones, but usually costs ~$30/mon.
