Hi Truckie,
I am a Auto tech at a jeep dealer and i think i have a 2014 Grand with your same problem sitting in my stall right now. I am still in the process of trying to find this noise as i cant quite pinpoint where on the left side its coming from. I have most of the dash detrimmed
and still cant pinpoint it . What makes it tough is that you need to be driving to make it happen hard to watch the road and look under dash at the same time. I know my noise is not the bracket on the steering column every one is talking about as my vehicle does not have it and that noise is definitely metallic like rocks shaking around in an empty pop can I have removed many of those brackets for that noise .
Ive also noticed the one i have will also make the noise sometimes by brake torquing it in gear with foot on the brake and feathering the throttle lightly but not all the time. I am going to contact chrysler technical assistance tomorrow to see if they have any info on this issue and i will let you know what i here .

Jeeptek78...
Thanks for the reply,,, my noise is still there and seems to have gotten worse ,,, I took a video of the noise ,, but I can't seem to post it on here ,,, my jeep dealer had my ride for one day said no abnormal noise ,, then 3 days straight trying to find it ,,, It is definitely not an easy noise to pinpoint like you stated ,,, I have to get it back into them but don't have the time to leave the vehicle with them right now (in an hvac tech). And we are super busy , my next run on call I will leave it w/ them since I won't need the car.. hopefully you will have some insight for me by then.. I wish I could somehow send you the video ...
Maybe you could message me an email address I and I will send it.
Thanks.
And good luck
Hey Truckie,
So i escalated a case to the star center today [ are tech assistance ] and they still have not responded , however i think i have my noise narrowed down to the tubes coming out of the heater core right where they run out of the fire wall
into the engine compartment it appears the tubes specifically the bottom one out of the heater core may be contacting the Hvac box causing the rattle right at the fire wall on the inside of vehicle under the dash what i did was take a trim panel tool or door panel removal tool and gently - very gently wedged it between the lower heater core tube and the hvac box and the noise was almost
gone completely . Just then the customer called and said he had to have his car back and will bring it back at a later date when he can leave it a couple of days . Go figure - lol . So to make a long story short i will be removing the dash and the hvac box when he brings it back unless directed otherwise by Star center .
This is a big job on these newer grands as i have had a few of them out on the 2011 s and 12s - Im hoping that star has a different solution then mine but i doubt it . I did check out your video its sounds very similar but yours seems to be louder then mine . Does it sound like your noise is coming from around the gas pedal area ? if so you can remove that carpeted hush panel under the dash by the gas pedal and brake pedal and look up high and you should see the area im talking about . Anyhow i should hear back from star tomorrow i will update you then.

really???? so why doesn't my dealer techs know about this ???? this is what aggravates me!!! they had my car for three days straight ,,, a total of four days ,took the whole dash apart and said well mechanically its fine,,
I wish I could figure out how to post my video of the noise.... wait... I think it uploaded.
The bulletin he's referring to is 13-041 and is the rrt for the steering column bracket that causes the metallic rattle my problem vehicle is outside of the production date for this tsb and is not equipped with it .

i have the same issue.
When the infamous vibrating bracket was removed, there was no noise for a while. Then the new vibrating noise appeared...
Check where the heater core tubes exit the firewall you might have to remove cowl i have had several now where the tubes are rattling under light accel on the firewall area under the hood
