I always see people talking about "drone" when speaking of installing a new exhaust system. What is the sound of drone and why does it happen?

It is the continuous exhaust noise usually during highway driving. Some aftermarket exhaust systems will create this noise/tone.

It's an annoying hum caused by the now louder exhaust. It does usually only happen at highway speeds and disappears when you lay off the pedal.
