Looking to order an new Trailhawk and the dealers have no idea when the order banks will open for customer orders. Anybody have info on when this might occur?

Thanks

Dealer cost is always LESS than invoice. Once you exhaust the holdback cost do you get to true dealer cost. $500 over cost is fair if they're referring to $500 over invoice. Highly doubt there will be any initial incentives.
Dealers (like politicians) choose their words carefully. Invoice means what the factory billed him for the vehicle. Cost means invoice plus the pro rata share of whatever expenses he estimates are necessary to sell cars.
You are so naive. My Grandfather owned a Chrysler dealership. My Father owned a Mercedes dealership. My older brother was the parts manager at an Audi dealership. My younger brother was the sales manager at a Cadillac dealership. Dealer cost never means invoice. Invoice means invoice. Dealer cost means invoice plus advertising, plus floor plan interest, plus sales commission, plus anything else. In other words, dealer cost means whatever the dealer wants it to mean. Invoice is a term that always means the same thing. :slapfight:
Ok how about this.... The dealers I have dealt with when talking about dealer cost they were talking about invoice. I am know in some areas they add all that BS to the price, but in my area they do not.
Please don't let the Trailhawk be the new Dart R/T. That would be so frustrating. :( That's the trim in the Cherokee that really matters IMO. There's nothing like that in the market currently.
The product trainer we had in-store yesterday said the Trailhawk will be later than the other models, but not as late as the Dart performance model.

She also indicated we still have a couple of months to wait before ordering is available to dealers, but there will be some spec models shipped early so we will see them on lots sooner than we could receive any factory orders we might create.

So much for Q3, huh? A couple month puts you smack dab in the middle of September. Which means ordered vehicles would be October/November/December. That's Q4 and into next year. Sounds a bit ridiculous.

These "spec" models you're referring to - would that include a Trailhawk, and and would it be considered a pre-pro model?

Finally - any way you can get hard measurements of the cargo area? Let's get a height, depth, width measurement. With the rear seats pulled all the way forward - and all the way back.

I am beginning to wonder if the 2014 will be ready for 2014. :(

This is exactly what I was thinking.

Don't get me wrong, I want to make sure that everything is taken care of and operating properly. No problems, no TSB's, no recalls. But come on!

Actually, if they are going to have the spec models show up in September, that counts as Q3. Those are for-sale units, spec'd by Chrysler to show off the new model. They aren't pre-production but are the first available units for sale. The dealers don't get to pick what they get of those. I suppose it's possible there could be a Trailhawk, but from what I've heard it's much more likely to see Limiteds.

I haven't yet had my hands on a Cherokee to get the measurements you're talking about, but there is supposed to be a Q3 Ride and Drive event that we will hear about soon. I will make sure to take measurements when I go to that.
If they release the Cherokee and the CRD Grand Cherokees at the same time, Jeep Garage may have to invest in bigger servers. :D

Technicalities on Q3. :D If I can't order mine and have it here in Q3...then it doesn't seem like Q3 was a good promise. The few actual Cherokee fans Jeep has should be treated like royalty! LOL  On a serious note, I know that the Limiteds, Latitudes, and Sports will make the bulk of the sales to up-and-coming soccer moms. So, the fanatics around here will just have to wait until their special orders are able to be placed!

Look forward to hearing about the Ride/Drive event.

Thanks for being here on JG. Glad to have some folks give real input.

Same here. Take as much time as needed to make sure the vehicle is right. Just don't start talking about production dates and when the vehicle will be ready UNTIL YOU ARE SURE! That is where Chrysler has failed miserably here. They should have had all their ducks in a row before saying anything about when it would be available. This constant changing of dates and info just makes them look like a horses hind end.

This is exactly what the product trainer I mentioned said. Something like "we wouldn't be having a problem if we hadn't given out target dates." You would think they would understand the old adage that all of us in sales have been taught: underpromise and overdeliver! :)

I am showing my age here, but I remember when Chrysler told its dealer network "the new Plymouth will be a 'baby Imperial'". That was a classic case of over promise and under deliver.
I guess people are itching to order a Trailhawk now is so they are first on the block to have one?
I have confidence that the Cherokee will be a great vehicle. I am not sure it is good for me. I am going to "kick the tires" on one before I consider buying it... pre-built or ordered. My current vehicle is paid for... so no hurry.

Same here.
Ditto. Paid for 2002 with I-6 is just fine for now.

I basically said this earlier to others here and got ripped for it. I am very intrigued by the new Cherokee but I want to actually see it and test drive it in person, not to mention give it a while to let the bugs show, before buying one if I decide it is a vehicle for me. Special ordering a new model before you have ever even seen one seems odd to me.

I guess your detractors would be willing to "buy a pig in a poke."
"Chrysler postponed next week’s media preview of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee because of an electronic issue controlling the engineand an industry-first nine-speed transmission, the company said Monday."

From the Detroit Free Press (7/30/2013) :(
