planning on getting a cutout before the end of the summer, but debating on wether to get 2 and put them before the Y, or get one and put it before the main cat, or get one and put it after the main cat and replace that one with the high flow (which i was going to do anyway).. what does everyone think? any brand recommendations?

i was thinking manual at first, then add an electric later on.. what i really want would be some type so computer controlled device that i could hook up to the engine speed sender and have it open at, oh lets say 2800 or 3k RPM or something and be shut anywhere below that, or have it be adjustable so i can fine tune it if i like.. anyone good with gijjitronics that can do that for me??

I see....like what the Z06 Corvettes, and new BMW 750's have in their mufflers....a solenoid opens a valve when you're "driving hard" so you can hear it more...then it shuts up under normal driving....

All I know is...that setup can't be cheap...lol..plainly put...your most cost effective way would be to get a manual cut out, with those butterfly/wing nuts, and just uncap it when you want it loud...and then re-cap when you want it "quieter"...

hmm, looks like a good deal. hows noticeable is the performance gain? im assuming minimal at best, thats why i was thinking mounting before the cat to try to free the exhaust up as much as possible

Some WJ's only have pre cats and no actual cat... the precats are both on the header pipes so if thats your setup it doesnt matter where you put them. I have my cutout right before the muffler on my WJ... It sounds badass... but inreality does little to nothing for power since all your removing is the muffler... the WJ flows pretty well stock. Heres a sound clip. Its a QTP 3in on a QTP electronic controller.

If you have an actual cat on your setup then go before the cat, but you will need an o2 sensor that will fake the ECU into thinking the dump is closed all the time.

hmmmmmm.. what if i just relocated it???.. ok i just checked and there is an o2 before AND after the main cat, but i couldnt tell if there are precats or not.. i swear ive seen them there before but i wasnt about to lay on the ground cause im wearing a white shirt that i just bought.. haha.. ill look tomorrow

you have precats and a regular cat, The 02 sensor after the cat is looking for a certain mixture that would let it know the cat is in good condition. places like jegs sell the sensor bypass for like 30-50 bucks... and since your obdII you dont have to run on the rollers for emissions, just no light and your good.

Best place for you is right before your cat, after the first 02 sensor. and then trick the second sensor.

Well....on my 02 WJ....it had a real cat...but it didn't have a senor after it....so it got axed...it has 2 precats now....that has a senor behind each cat...and there are 2 more senso'sr closer the exhaust manifolds...

PRE-CAT is the only way to go bro!! anything less is half azz lol...On my 4.0l with a 2.5 cut-out on the dyno it gave me 9hp and 11tq gain...On my 5.9 a 3inch cut-out gave me 17HP gain they are well worth there money bro!! But both of mine are pre-cat i got no codes from mine and boy my trucks turn heads!! i got a video of my 5.9 with the cut-out open if u like to hear it
