Hey guys. I'm going to be ordering some tires soon and wanted some input on some of it. Here's what I'm looking at:

Nitto Terra Grapplers
Hankook Dynapro
Falken Rocky Mountains
Goodyear Wrangler HP
Toyo Open Country

Lookin at 265/70/17 for all of them. Possibly 285 if I won't whave rubbing issues running the RRO lift with the longer Monroe LLs, Rusty's strut spacers, and no wheel spacers.

Mostly city/freeway drivinv but some mild offroad use. I camp a lot in summer and go up the canyons for snowboarding in winter.

Take a look at the Cooper AT3 265/70R17. These ride great on the road but will do well when you are off road and in the winter too. My brother in law has a set on his truck and loves them. they also have a 55,000 mile warranty. (avail. in P, C and E ply ratings)

If you want to go with a more aggressive tire than that. Take a look at the Goodyear Duratrac. These are available in a Load range C (6 ply rated) or E(10ply rating) and are considered a hybrid AT/MT. These can be studded in the winter and they will give your Jeep a Really nice, aggressive look.

As for size, the 265/70R17 would be a good size with your lift. Any larger than that and you'll likely need to make further modifications.

Hankook over the Falken. Used the ATM RF10(?) & liked how they performed, buddy has them on his F250 after EATING a set of Falken's. His comparison was in the Hankooks favor, on & off road. HTH

The duratrac's are where its at.

Beware the Duratracs with the "C" load range. Very thin sidewall. I loved the tread pattern, but after 2 sidewall punctures & 1 rolled bead (while running 16psi.) I went back to a more aggressive tire. I imagine the "E" load range would have a thicker sidewall.

On a 2005 Grand Cherokee- wont the 265/70/17 which is 31.1 X 10.4--- will that not rub against the bolt on the top ball joint?? I have a 2006 Grand Cherokee- bought it used and after owning Jeeps for 30 years -- I was appaled that the engineers have that foolish bolt just 1/2- to 3/4" from the 245/65/17's on the truck now and am a loss to find a good aggressive tire to use this winter?
