Agreed! Came down the Birdsville Track a couple of weeks ago. It's not a bad road as far as gravel roads go but every now and again there would be a 6" rock sitting in the wheel track. It's reassuring knowing there is a sump plate. However, if your off-roading is mainly on sand a sump plate is probably not required.I use it and happy I do, already have scrapes in it. With sump plate not sure you can have "full" protection minus this critical area.
