Info like this should be made into a sticky after it's answered.
I wanted to figure out some solid specs for the 2013 Laredo, no air suspension, stock height.
Maximum backspacing allowed: ?
Maximum tire size allowed, with or without minimal trimming: ?
I have the 17" stick alloy rims, and was looking at this tire/wheel package but am not sure what will and wont fit. Which is kind of a risk when ordering online.
Yes and have found various people with wheels and tire setups but i feel like there should be a sticky with what kind of sizes will fit with stock height, leveling kit and 2.5" lift. Also, backspacing requirements, etc.
Then that information would and should be posted in their, not in the generalized area. The only people that is going to get that information are the users, not Scott or Milous. Maybe once someone has done all the research, then Scott could make it a sticky in that area.
Have you done any google searches or looked at what other people have been able to do that didn't have to make any modifications? What you could fit on a Laredo might be different than what someone might be able to fit on a Overland that has QL if they always keep the QL lifted.
Yeah most people have the leveling kit, I wanted to verify that say for example 4.5" backspacing is acceptable for rims, and that a tire of say 265/70/17 like the ones i provided the link for wouldn't rub, with or without say the leveling kit.
So what do you mean by allowed? The manufacture's spec, how far a prudent driver will push the limit, or what has been tested? There is not much room and different brand tires in the same size have different results. Although several forums have stickies on the subject that capture what has been tried, I don't think all the physical possibilities have been determined yet.
On the other hand, if a dealer puts a note in the system that you are running anything other than the OEM size wheels and tires, it will void your driveline warranty. In that sense you know exactly the manufacture's acceptable maximums and minimums. There is no wiggle room there.
Seriously? Yes, there have been a few posts here from bigger tire folks that have had warranties denied.
