My concern with plastic dip or similar products is once rocks or even bugs start plastering it, how is it going to look?
one small chip and the pressure washer is going to have its way with it.
I’m interested in the one year review of pladtidipped chrome.
so far it looks great! And if nothing else shows what the modern overland should of looked like…
Chrome is an old man’s jewelry… looks cheap today.

So i have been working on my 2 row overland to remove all that Chrome.
The only replacement parts i got were the 7 grill rings (part number 7GS66DX8AA). I used Hyperdip Shadow black (similar to plasti dip) to hide all that chrome.
Still thinking about blacking out the rims. View attachment 248891 View attachment 248892
Looks fantastic! I see a summer project for myself!

LOL, I agree, I hate all the chrome! My last SUV had the blackout package and I am struggling with all the chrome on this vehicle and all the $$$$ I see trying to get rid of it!

Used plastidip on our 2014, even years later it looks great, everything but rims that stuff really works, you need at least 4-5 coats so it is thick...
I used white and black. White for the chrome mirror caps and the black exterior shark fin antenna on the roof.
Yes, the white will get yellowish over time but all I do is use paint polish and it is white again, doing that for years, now the WK2 is 9 years old and couldn't be more happy with PlastiDip or what ever it is called :) It is not shiny, it is flat white or black, even with that glossifier coating they sell...

According to the invoice it adds up to $722.09
Both Rails $279.74 (includes the whole bottom pieces that attaches to roof as well as the black metal trim. Just not the top plastic rail part.
Everything else: $442.35
--> Some of these are 3 to 4 pieces. Except for the grille we know is 7 pieces.

If you want a part break down let me know. I can post it later.

Crazy if it’s that cheap in parts, a chrome delete on a wk2 is over 3k easy. The back window trim was like entirely new windows and 1400 or something.
