Mmmm… Why two?
Not sure, but as a guess, front/back? The new system works faster than the WK2 it can move both ends at the same times.

The larger tank is the primary reservoir , the smaller one is the fast down reservoir and is used for fast down leveling of the vehicle during Entry/Exit.

Yes, but like I said, it "can" do both together now. It doesn't always.

I'm guessing the shape is to get the required capacity while still being able to fit it in the available space .
As a comparison, the Wagoneer tank is mounted up front behind the radiator and while it is round, it's also quite big.
It is supposed to do it in a way that the headlights are never pointing up. That could be dangerous for oncoming traffic.
