i have a 1999 cherokee xj sport and today i tried to replace the radio and when i did so, when it tried to start it it turned over but it would not idle without your foot on the accelerator. if someone could help me with this i would very much appreciate it thank you very much.

I presume that you disconnected the battery for the radio replacement?
If so, then most probably the PCM has lost the idle settings for the idle air control stepper motor. Just drive it around and keep your foot on the accelerator at idle, until it has relearned the settings.
