I decided to go the yellow H16 bulb route. I won't go into detail, but the yellow provides a better usable light. Got my bulbs from ebay. they are the nokya yellow H16 bulbs.

yes these need the tabs cut off for them to fitted similarly to the LED thread so check that one for details.

here are the pics and comparison to the oem bulb. the last picture really doesn't do them any justice.

I did this some time ago too, very happy with them. Wouldn't mind upgrading to a bit brighter bulb, seeing as the OEM setup doesn't put out a ton of light.

Looks great though. I will say, the yellow bulbs even not being super bright do help with visibility a LOT.
when you say they help with visibility, do you mean in all conditions, or just in fog?
Which tabs do you have to trim and do they fit securely?

Rain, snow, fog, smoke, they help a lot in all those conditions.

I don't remember having to trim any tabs off on my bulbs. I did that almost a year ago though, so I may have forgotten.
Installed these on my Jeep and Tahoe at the same time. One of the Jeep ones burned out in 1 month. The Tahoe ones have been goin strong for over 6 months. Weird.
Both of mine are good, but mine aren't Nokyas, they came from ebay. Likely all sourced from the same place in China, but who knows.
