OK Guys went to the dealer today they had some recall work. They were positive they would be able to fix it. ^ hours later they called and said they cant figure out they found the leak. So I went there and here are the pictures. Leak 1 with the arrow is where the water is coming out from. Now if you look to me the other hole was filled with some type of insulation. Guys I am stumped, to the point where I am done. They NEVER have seen this before. Good thing is they did not charge me for the time.

So WTF is this? Its going to start getting cold and have no idea what to do now and this is my winter vehicle. They suggested I take it to a body shop.

OK Guys lets hear what you got.

That is a super tough one. I can assure you if this was an easy one to solve, your interior would not look like that. Water leaks can be the worst! I have had a brand new jeep patriot for a month, the interior was gutted, front bumper and left front fender were removed (again, this was a recently purchased car). I never found the exact spot of the leak, I narrowed it down to about a 10"x8"x2" area in the body structure behind the fender in front of the door. It took about 3 tries of packing big strips of butyl and finally required spraying a sealer similar to flexseal blindly up in the cavity and the water stopped getting into the interior.

SUPER common on these are the sunroof drains. I would think if you are at the dealer they have experienced said sunroof drains and have adequately ruled them out.

I have nothing to add beyond that. Good luck to you!

I'm not sure about the Jeep but on some other cars that area is part of the cowl plenum. So water that would get into the opening behind the hood where fresh air comes in could wind up running down that sheet metal and out the hole. A lot of times the plenum is made of various bits of sheet metal that are sealed with tape or other sealant and sometimes they miss a spot... OR that hole simply was supposed to be sealed because the water is supposed to run down somewhere in that area and simply drain out the bottom. Don't know which option it is on the jeep.

I've had 2 sunroof leaks now, an 09 Patriot and an 06 Cherokee. They were hard to track down at first because of the plugged front, passenger side drain tube. water would spill over the sunroof drain track and onto the headliner. From there it might drizzle into the overhead lights, or down any trim and onto the dash. With all that water falling onto the dash the stereo started acting up. There was so much coming out of the headliner we would have never noticed a wet floor like you have here. The dealership cleared the Cherokee, I rerouted the Patriot because the tube couldn't be cleared. We narrowed down which tube was the problem when we noticed the vehicle only leaked inside when the front end was pointed down hill.
