2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland - Towing package need additional brake monitor?

Jeep does have a factory brake controller that was an option if you ordered the vehicle. I think it mounted in the lower dash to the left of the steering column or up under the edge of the dash. Should be a plug stuck up in the wiring harness around the steering column somewhere.
