My 2018 JK intermittently won't start unless I shift back and forth from Drive to Park several times. I am the original owner, and it has been doing this to me since 2020 when I had only 30,000 miles on the Jeep. When it first started happening, I took it to a Jeep dealer, and they replaced the entire shifter under warranty. It did not fix the problem and I have just lived with it for the last four years. It would only happen to me a couple of times a year. Four years and 70,000 miles later, it is happening more and more frequently (maybe once a week).

I read somewhere that the Transmission Control Module sends a signal to the PCM which allows for the operation of the starter circuit if the Transmission Position Sensor is sending the correct signal.

I hope that after six years, Jeep will finally have a definitive fix for this and know what is happening. Is there any new information on this? Has anyone else had this happen?

I've read about this problem elsewhere and it mainly has to do with the 2018 JK models. After many frustrating owners and trips to the dealer to replace various components, the fix for most of them was replacing something called a lead frame assembly. The part # is 52108308AC and, although it is the same part # for previous model years, there was speculation as to whether perhaps there was a bad batch of these for the 2018 model year.

Here's a link to the 28 page thread, if you want to read the details.
