your best bet is to modify your stock exhaust to work with either an SRT8 takeoff kit or a 5.7 dual kit. The dealerships are useless for this sort of thing.

 

Have searched and talked to Borla, Bassani and a few others. No plans to make one as of yet. I have talked to a local custom exhaust place http://www.louscustomexhaust.com/products.html they can bend and hang a custom dual config for approx $900

Did you go to Lou's in Lawrence? Mike that runs the show there is one of the most clever guys you will ever deal with.I had him just remove the resonators and weld on some nice 3 1/2" double wall tips on my hemi and it gave me the sound I was looking for.Not to loud and you know its a V8.

The Durango Heat model which only comes with a V6 has dual exhaust. Of course, it does have a longer wheelbase so that might affect a direct fit in a V6 GC. But maybe it would fit from the axle back?

I looked at the factory parts catalog that someone posted a link to on here and I had a feeling that the piping was the same size.

Then I saw someone post a Hemi take off exhaust on ebay and I studied the pictures and suspected that it would bolt right up. The hanger is already there on the rear subframe. So all you would have to do is get the rear valance and the rubber hanger.

This confirms it now I have to convince someone who installed a corsa or borla to ship me their unsused hemi exhaust.

Yes & No, it is potentially true. One of the biggest mistakes is people go bolting things onto their vehicles and they aren't balanced and aren't designed to work together, many are. Infact some modifications counteract other mods resulting in net/net or losses or unexpected poor performance. When it comes to exhaust systems it's complex but generally dealing with cat or axle back systems that are built for specific applications and vehicles you are ok. They gave you a general answer but, what usually happens if you don't use the proper system you loose (many names/terms used by some) Back Pressure, improper flow and this can reduce torque. Again, it relly depends on the type of system you install.

My change is going to be custom and after the factory muffler. So I'll have the factory cats, factory muffler and I'll use Borla or Magnaflow resonators the shop is checking into this for me.

But I have to say, I'm intriuged by the post Rexx330 put up. Apparently in that video, a guy directly bolted up a Borla part # 140406 to a 2011 GC Laredo with a 3.6L. I've sent the youtube video poster a message to see if I can get more specifics on what was done. I love the Borla products, rcurrently run them on my stangs. went away from Bassani as they droned on the highway.

The V8 kits would be great for anyone looking to do supporting mods. (Intake, throttle body, tuning once available) These manufacturers often stay conservative in their choice of piping diameter.

 

i'm definitely interested in all that but i'm waiting for a tune to come out before i go install intake, throttle body & exhaust. i would have done exhaust sooner but now i have the dilemma of single or dual exit.

 

dual exhaust is fine, with proper design it won't lose low end. Its when you get into a dummy dual (single inlet/dual outlet, and unequal length) that you get into poor results.

It could be argued that clearance issues aside, a properly designed single exhaust would be best. Problem is they rarely ever are. the key is a proper merge. You also have the advantage of costing less in materials, and weighing less.

Havent peeked under but it appears that the WK2 models all have true dual exhausts of some sort so dual exhaust makes the most sense.

Tuning won't be here anytime soon. The software in its current phase can't write to the PCM.

 

For 3.6, if you use other mufflers for V8, you will loose pressure. So, go with smaller diameter tubing for custom.

Looks like these exhausts are 2.5" duals, that would be fine for a 300+ hp V6.

 

That's pretty good news. I don't want to do too many mods to my jeep mostly visual mods probably just an intake and exhaust for performance so it doesn't feel so sluggish. The Jeep is mostly my winter car and my girlfriends full time car. I have a summer car which I want to be more performance based.

 

I don't know if this is right but what i'm thinking is 2.5" piping is the way to go. My only reasoning on this is cause I also own a 2.0T Genesis and the exhaust for the 2.0T and 3.8 are both 2.5" duals for all the after market exhausts and it seems like they are getting pretty good dyno results. I don't know much about all this stuff but it just seems to me that 2.5" is the way to go off of that observation.

I would love to see a dyno and TQ results before and after. I don't think it will loose much if any. A few others on this thread seem to agree. But we are all very eager to see real facts and results.

Hey Emarosa and all, i have a 2012 WK2 6cyl wanting to make it dual exhaust as well... did some investigating with the 6cyl and 8cyl exhaust systems.... found out that there interchangeable direct bolt to headers... looked on ebay found a guy that was selling his 2011 v8 factory dual exhaust because he upgraded to a aftermarket magnaflow and listed his starting at $50 so i bid and won the auctions for $50!!! Only problem i had to pick it up which was 3hrs away from me.. went to pick it up with my friend and his pickup truck got it home went to go install it that night and low and behold... IT FIT!!!! Its a direct bolt in to the 6cyl.... all you have to do is order a new rear bottom valance for a v8 $180 and the driver side exhaust hanger....All i cared about was the look of the dual exhaust on the truck not so much on the performance end..... So if anyone has a 6cyl 2011-2012 that wants dual you can purchase any aftermarket exhaust for a v8 and its direct bolt in just remember you have to by that bottom valance and exhaust hanger on the driver side.... hope this info helps.....

Do you know the part number for the exhaust hanger on the driver side?

 

Now that we know it fits and can be done, it would be great to know if it helps or hurts performance.

You're not going to lose power. Period.

The Pentastar reacts very well to modifications....waiting for customer interest/demand to pick up before I invest into doing more parts for them.

 

Trade it in and buys a hemi. Back when I had my 99 grand Cherokee I had the smaller engine it took a long time to get mods for it.

 

With the amount of cars this engine is going into I don't think it will take as long as you think for mods to be available for the 3.6. Just what I personally think tho.

 

Na, I drive just under 200 miles a day. I'm getting 22mph highway and I'm really happy with that. Just want the look of the duals. I'm tempted to get the Borla system. Dynoing my V6 this saturday. So i'll have a baseline.

I have the hemi, but I'm curious as to how the pre/post dyno results look

 

There is a heat shield between muffler and bumper. I think will be a good idea to have it in place when doing the dual mod, specially hemi duals.

The heat shield wouldn't come with the exhaust? Or with the replacement lower bumper valence?
